Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Leading evidence: 'Install by a previous owner' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install by a previous owner' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
I removed an inactive aftermarket tracker / handsfree system from my '04 plate C4S coupe fitted by a previous owner.
It wasn't wired into the fuse box so I haven't touched anything there, and it wasn't wired into the heater or lights either so nothing there touched.
It was wired into the mass of cabling at the rear for the Bose system etc.
I was very carefully in removing the wires, there was only 4.
My issue is that since that day my interior heater fan is not working, the fuse is ok, also the front and rear fog lights won't come on either, again fuses are fine. The heater display is still working though.
I have read that sometimes these 2 issues can be related to a faulty ignition switch, but my ignition seems fine, no key sticking etc and I can't help it's to much of a coincidence.
The fuses are getting the 12v power to them for the fan and lights.
I don't want to start changing the fan motor out until I'm sure, the fog lamps not working makes me think it's another issue.
Is there relays for the fan and lights and if there is does anybody know which ones they are as a google search is fruitless?
Anybody help with more ideas? .... would a PIWIS help solve the issue?
Thanks all.
Piwis might help but i kinda doubt it ..
Let's assume it's nothing to do with the tracker and start with the fan ..
The fan has a permanent earth so you would check that at the fan .. it then has a feed which goes through a resistor pack for the different speeds ..
It will be different voltages for the different speeds .. at a guess 8-9 volts low speed increasing to 12 volts high speed .
You would check that you have a feed at the fan .. if you do .. fan has died .. if not we work backwards .. diagram below ..
We appear to have a relay which could be suspect and we have x2 fuses that need checking ..
Fuse C7 and Fuse D6 .
Basically start with one defective item and go from there .. it may lead back to the tracker .. i doubt it from what you have said so we trace the fault on a single item first to a conclusion .
Edit .. i would guess the relay is number 18 .
relay support 1 is above the fuse box .
