Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If it's in anyway linked 1st and 3rd gear have been a bit difficult to change into recently I thought the engine mounts/ transmission mounts might need changing but not to this extent.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
So as the title says I came downstairs to look at the car and it looks like either half of the exhaust or maybe the engine is hanging down. Does anyone know what might be causing this? And equally importantly what it's going to cost me
. If it's in anyway linked 1st and 3rd gear have been a bit difficult to change into recently I thought the engine mounts/ transmission mounts might need changing but not to this extent.
As always thank you for all the help!
I have to admit i've never seen that before
Certainly an issue with the o/s/r engine mount .. you will need to get it recovered .. i wouldn't want to drive it like that .
Cost is very difficult but ..
If we say recovery at £100 ..
A mount at about £150 ..
labour .. i would expect 1 hr so at an Indy about £100 .... OPC and about £250.
All depending on what's found to be the cause though .
Thank you! Yes I wouldn't want to drive it in this state! I thought recovery would be nearer £300 so that sounds a bit better at least. Hopefully not too much more damage. It kind of came out of nowhere the exhaust pipe was maybe 2/3 inches lower than I'd like it then today it looks like this.
The engine will just about rest on the center brace bar without damage to pipes etc .. yours is one side only .
Recovery is based on just how far you have to move the car but my guess should be enough for a local recovery to a garage ...
I might go £150 but above that imho is expensive .
I had similar and the mount had snapped where it is bonded in to the stud. I had no collateral damage luckily but make sure both mounts are replaced. Mine from OPC we're about £315 for the pair and my local independent garage charged £100 to fit. AA flatbedded it to garage where the engine was carefully supported until the mounts arrived a few days later. Best of luck.
I was about 2 miles from home when it happened and yes it was included in my cover. They were excellent too and sent a flat bed with a very low bed that extended so no problem with clearance etc. I had no warning that the engine mount was failing. Nothing visual or mechanical.
Just thought I'd give an update. I called the RAC and they towed it to 9 excellence (about 2 hours from my house). Ken at 9e confirmed it's engine mounts. The RAC have been really good! I've got more than my money's worth out of them. They sent a recovery truck out which took a couple of hours to come but after that they paid for my return journey and booked me a hire car for free with no quibbles I would definitely recommend them.
