I hate to start a thread like this, but I have been searching all afternoon and couldnt find a post I thought I read about 6 months ago when the de-snork was all the rage.
In the post the author was describing what i remember as inconsistencies between 1-2500 rpm on dyno charts. Someone actually posted a printout of a dyno and it was misread and had to be clarified, or something like that. Do any of you remember? I was almost positive it was in Ken's "Air Restrictor Mod..13rwhp" thread. But i went through it this afternoon and couldnt find it.
I am getting all my P's and Q's in order for an article I am working on and want to get my facts straight. Thanks...and if someone finds it and can PM me or respond here that would be great...
You may be thinking of Ken's milltech exhaust thread. There were dyno charts posted stock vs modified and some discussion of why the lower rpm numbers with mods was lower than the stock dyno run. At least, that's how I remember it...
hope that helps, Dave
I don't recall exactly which thread, but yeah depending upon where the dyno operator actually starts reading and depending upon how the dyno ramps up anything below 3K is probably not very accurate.
ahh...thanks! I will check through some more threads and see. That would explain some possible anomolies in my recent dyno. Ok, well, sorry about the hiccup, appreciate the help.
Not being a net maven, I'm not sure exactly how the up & donwloads work, but ....
FWIW, for those taking their cars to Dynojet systems, you can ask for copies of the "xxxx_runx.dfr" file or files generated for your car. Having just gotten a set of base configuration runs, I'd be happy to post the file to the list, or some one who want's to play around with the information can PM me with an email address to forward a copy to. You can view and, perhaps more interesting, actually overlay drf files for different cars, configurations and tunes using Dynojet's viewer software which is available for free download at
http://www.dynojet.com/downloads/software.aspx
".... Be sure set up the run screen by selecting the dual graph on the top left and then pull down on the upper left hand side of the graph where it says "none" to power do the same on the right of the upper graph for torque. The lower left should have Air/fuel selected. That’s all there is to it. ...."
BTW, based on the dynojet software, those of us in the Denver area get to pay Cayman S prices for the thrill of driving only a base Cayman experience. Using 3rd gear for the base line pulls, the Cayman S on the Dynojet equipment will only put down a best of @ 213.66 bhp (uncorrected wheel power made at @ 5,370' on a 60 +/- degree day), and 182.41 #/ft torque. SAE corrected worked out to @ 258.31 bhp / 220.54 +/- With numbers like those, one probably doesn't really need a limited slip for the car
Hum,.... I don't see the date run file extension, "drf" as an acceptable valid file extension under the "manage attachments" options. If K-man-S has a solution for posting the run file data let me know and I can pass the three files along.
Cheers
Just think if you low landers in Denver where up here in Santa Fe at 7000'...
zip the file up inside a zip file and you can then attach a zip file with that file inside of it.
Well, .... I guess that would put you in base Boxster territory, with one missing plug wire.
Based on K-man-S suggestion, attached should be a zip file with 3 base, i.e. a stock Cayman S with @ 12k on the motor, dyno data files. The data fils can be loaded into, and viewed with DynoJet's viewer software available at
http://www.dynojet.com/downloads/software.aspx
I know I've uploaded a "Cayman Dyno Files.zip" of @ 21.2kb, whether I've managed to properly attach the file, or not, I'm not sure.
Cheers
Yes file is attached, good job!
