Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A 2-3 week lay-up is a special occasion for your car? [ ] Plug it in. Even a new battery can go flat in that time. The drain from the alarm can do it, and if you also have a tracker (which you may not even know about) it will definitely do it.

POST 2Original post

Any time I put my car in the garage I connect up the battery conditioner - irrespective of whether I plan to use her again the following day or a month or more later! As a result, my 968 coupe still has the battery I putinto her 9 years ago, and starts first time every time.

POST 3Original post

Dear All, I've recently had to replace my original Porsche battery on my 996 (2003 car) as it finally gave up the ghost prior to a trip Goodwood a few weeks ago. Question? I will be leaving the car for a few weeks locked away for a special occasion and I'm not sure whether to plug the new battery (car) into the conditioner? It could be there for at least 2/3 weeks before I use her again? Any thoughts gratefully recieved. Cheers

POST 4Original post

I have a trickle charger I bought from Maplin which I always use if I know wont be driving the car for while. A couple of weeks is a long time and a Richard says there will always be a drain on the battery
