I don't think there are any common issues, other than when disconnecting an airbag when the battery is connected, when working on the car.

Today the air bag failure light came on. Is this a known 996 issue? had the 996 C4S 2003 for almost a year with no major issues. Its due a service in a few weeks so do I just let them diagnose the fault?

I don't think there are any common issues, other than when disconnecting an airbag when the battery is connected, when working on the car. A diagnosic test will show what's wrong. It would be guesswork without.
