Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The wiring harness adapter only has wiring for four speakers and my car has six. How do I wire up the stereo harness to the adapter? Do I use the rca jacks? coming out of the unit there is a white and red rca for front and white and red for rear. The adapter has white , purple , green and gray. What goes where? POST 2Original post

RCA jacks are usually connectors for external amplifiers and/or powered subwoofers. If your car has six speakers, it probably has an amplifier. If that's the case, and you're using the factory amp, you'll connect the head unit to the amp. Your wiring kit should include a piece that has a rectangular connector on one end and some RCA plugs on the other end. The RCA plugs connect to the jacks on your head unit. The rectangular connector connects to the factory harness plug. Like you, my car (a 996.1) has six speakers -- two in the dash, two in the doors, and two in the back. From your description and pictures, it sounds like your installation would be similar to mine.
