Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I cut mine down when I fitted H&R lowering springs when I had a 996.

My specialist kindly informed me they were too short when I got the car checked over (for this very reason!) so on that, I would go with don't cut them!!
Leading evidence: 'Install h&r lowering springs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check over (for this very reason!) so' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I recently installed the similar Eibach springs on new B8's and was unsure regarding bump stops.

Ran with lowered suspension for 7 years, along with shotened Bilstein sport shocks, very happy with them

Running H&R springs on my 997.2 straight swap no issues :thumb:
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I run them.
Just a straight swap, no cut down of bump stops, and have been happy ever since! very compliant ride, no where near as hard riding as my 7.1 GT3 or Megane3 RS

Hi there - so my logic in fitting B8s and H&R springs was that by reducing the strut size I should therefore cut the bump stops appropriately.
My specialist kindly informed me they were too short when I got the car checked over (for this very reason!) so on that, I would go with don't cut them!!
I also thought B8s had internal bumpstops on the front but this assumption was also proved not correct!
You are a wiser man asking on here first than me, clearly!
If you cut the bump stop down it won't be able to do it's job properly. The size of the 'bump" it has to 'stop" is the same, regardless of the spring so I'd leave well alone. If you're hitting the bump stops because of the lower springs are they stiff enough? Are the shocks too short? Smaller bumps stops from another model will probably be stiffer and would be better than cutting down the originals. Cutting them is a common thing to do but it's avoiding the problem, not solving it.
I recently installed the similar Eibach springs on new B8's and was unsure regarding bump stops.
Based on the (very poor) instructions from Bilstein and researching some forums, I decided to cut down the front bump stops, so that it only holds the dust bellow in place over the strut arm.
Did I mess up and have to reinstall the front struts with new bump stops?
I am still not sure if B8 has internal bump stops in front, or not. Is the only consequence of cutting them that the shocks may bottom out and damage internals/cause excessive wear, or something else?
I'm not 100% but I think based on previous experience and it feels OK it should be fine.
