It's unlikely to be the switch but unless tested i cant say im afraid .
Leading evidence: 'Test i cant say im afraid' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check put a voltmeter or a bulb' (1 discussions). The only way to check the system is a voltmeter on the wiring and when operated you will see 12 volts .

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My windscreen washers have stopped working so after some research I've now taken off the wheel and arch liner to investigate. The tubes are all connected so it appers its either he pump or switch. Few questions as now stumped:
What / where is the switch?
Where is the pump? behind the washer bottle?
Assuming it is a new pump where is best place to get it from?
TIA
Washer pump is on the back side of the bottle .. you have to drop the bottle to get proper access .
To check put a voltmeter or a bulb on the electrical contacts and operate it .. you will get 12 volts or the bulb will light up .. either proves its the pump .

Cheapest pump i found but i've never used this company so know nothing about them .. just a google search .
Switch is the lever you pull to operate the washers .. 2 contacts inside .
Ill also add that atm washers are freezing up .. that WILL stop them from working

Thanks that's really helpful. Definitely not frozen as it lives in a heated garage and hasn't worked for a few weeks
Will take the tank off tomorrow for a look at the pump
Tank off now and the pump has pa6 gb gf30 written on it. Looks to be a unit used by loads of manufacturers. Anyone know where best to source?
Looking on the d911 website the one for £12 on there seems to have a different connector on it, looks like a 2 prongs sticking out. Mine has a vag logo on the connector and a push fit snap in type connector.
Also the windscreen wipers still work when pulling the stalk back so I assume it can't be that switch?
The link i listed says its for all models of 996 although obviously i can't say for sure .. OPC parts will definitely fit though .

So new pump fitted and still not working...
Checked it's getting signal with a voltmeter and it is so I'm stumped as to why it isn't working.
The hoses are all connected so completely baffled.
Any help much appreciated
Can you get someone in the car to actuate it whilst you listen if its operating?
If not, put an elastic band round the spoke on your steering wheel and the stalk.
...check the t piece connection just behind the battery...these can break / detach which means no water pressure so no water to the screen? Just a thought...
Checked the T and all fine and yes have had the kids pulling the stalk to check it.
Can't hear any noise from the pump and still not working. The wipers go but no water. Have even tried just holding the pump and kids pulling the stalk but nothing.
Can't understand it as when I didn't e same with voltmeter on the plug there was something getting to it
What else could it be? Fuse somewhere? Wiring? Seems bizarre why it suddenly failed
Well it's not C6 as just checked and that's fine.
Fuse is fine, motor is new, switch appears to work as works wipers and sends current to plug. Absolutely baffled. Anyone got any ideas?
