Got taken around Goodwood in Calum Lockie's 968 last week. Most entertaining, great chassis.

POST 4Original post

I'm sure it's well within my capabilities but I have no idea how to get a piccie on here and am mega busy today. If I mail a couple to someone will that person be able to chuck them on PH, a beer will be bought for said person at BTaP of course?? Cheers in advance

POST 6Original post

The Domstic one has just been telling me all about it! Bleedin' soooperb! One car that can lay serious claim to that overused term, drivers' car. Nice sounding tune from the engine room too, I recall from a brief encounter. As Hannibal Smith would have said, "Nice!"

POST 11Original post

I ALWAYS wanted one of these - I love this car. Does it have the MO30 (?) pack too. Congrats Scottster!!! Dom - got to speak to you at some stage mate! Will try and give you a call tonight!

POST 12Original post

Cheers Manu. Nah, alas I couldn't find one with M030 but as soon as I find the bits (I have a few people looking) they'll be sure to get bolted on. Well, the brakes at least and poss the roll bars.

POST 13Original post

Scottster - I'm not one for bodykits etc but I saw one just like yours with the front splitter off the ULTRA-Rare 968 Turbo S (I think) and it looked soooo mean... the one I had a look at had a kevlar bonnet too - got to get that splitter!!! I love the yellow seat back covers... - a no-nonsense drivers car.... F KING BRILLIANT!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And I need to speak to you, as I have a rug to hand over and some hard cash to collect before you spend it down at Secrets Speak laters. Domster

POST 15Original post

Congrats Scott! I suggest you start with adjustable Konis (the standard shocks are rubbish compared to them) Don't forget too that M030-equipped 968 have springs at the rear

POST 16Original post

Hi Guys, At the moment I'm in the position of having to decide between a nicely sorted E30 Evo1 M3 and a "bog standard" 968 CS, both are LHD, both about the same price. I work abroad and want to have a fun but practical car to track day and use when I’m home. At the moment I'm thinking that the Porsche is the one to go for, what's your opinions on this "dilemma”? Cheers, D.

POST 17Original post

Hi Scottster, lovely choice there matey! Ive had a ride in a 968 CS and they are simply fantastic! If only they wernt group 20 ins (i think one of the quotes i got for one come to £4500 ) Anyway according to *Cough* GT purely Porsche (sorry for swearing!) "Tech9 can supply the full MO30 kit including Bilstein dampers, stiffer springs, 40 percent Torsen limited-slip differential, drilled discs and anti-roll bars, from stock, for £2162" Contact - Tech9: 0151 425 5911 Ive never heard of this Tech9 (so i dont know wheter they have a crap reputation), but i thought you may be interested in this. ooh, yes and it looks as though they've got a website; www.tech9.org.uk/ Cheers, Marvin ~~~~~~~ Drilled anti-roll bars - is that another wieght saving measure??

POST 18Original post

Awsome car, congrats. I love the seats and the color. I have the 968 M030 sways and Bilstien/Eibach coil overs on my 951, this is the way to go, takes the car to a whole new level. Enjoy!

POST 19Original post

Cheers for the comments guys. Nice to know you have that much PHer approval. Thom - Was only going to get the brakes, shocks and anti roll bars anyway. Photek - Driven both many times, 'personally' I perfer the CS, hence buying one this time. Marv - Yer, I saw that. Seems very good value, must be second hand parts and not fitted I guess for that price? Dave

POST 20Original post

Well I certainly hope not old boy; I've certainly entrusted enough mechanical pork to Mr.Hindley myself and am currently just a little down on the Millenium Falcon. Said gent is one of Porsche Club GB's tech refs and indeed, I was put on to them by Steve Kevlin, their tech head supremo. Also, they came second in the Porsche Cup with a problematic car this season and one of their new chaps has just moved from a senior service post at a local OPC. Along with 930 MotorSport, Tech9 is the place for Porsche drivers in the NW who think exceeding 200 is for people who are most definately in the fancying of female reproductive organs business. Ho-ho.

POST 21Original post

Wrong; the M030 package: - did include adjustable Koni shock absorbers; the Bilstein were used on the 944 Turbo Cup, but certainly not on the 968; - did not include the limited-slip differential (coded M220) That was a note from the *purist* Apart from this it sounds quite a good deal, especially if the Bilstein shocks mentioned above are those of the Turbo Cup: they're worth £300 each!

POST 22Original post

Thanks for the comments Scottster, I'm going to start ringing round today for insurance quotes, I have a feeling this might "help" make the decision for me - I did a few online last night and 5 was get quoted in the region of 2300 - 2400 for the CS and about half that for the M3....

POST 23Original post

You could try Footman James - I got my 944 S2 (nearly a 968!) insured for £823 fully comp 3000 miles limited, 1 year NCB and I'm 25

POST 24Original post

I'm 26, lots of NCB, protected, on a 1996 Carrera 4S and i pay 1200 fully comp. NOT limited mileage either. I've been with Privilege (a subsidiary of DirectLine) for the last 4 years, they are consistently cheaper than everyone else in my experience. Young drivers in stoopid cars seems to be their speciality! Hope this helps. VerySideways

Scottster, I seem to remember taking a brief ribbing about my yellow car? See It happens to us all..... Very nice mate, love the interior, ( must get those seats).... John >> Edited by johnf on Friday 1st November 11:45

POST 27Original post

Don't forget about having engines in the correct place as well Scottster - glad you've seen the light.

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Scottster, I know of a nice set of M030 brakes for your car, they look the bollocks and are currently on some daft blue Audi estate. I'm sure the owner won't mind if you swapped them for yours and put sensible brakes back on his 'station wagon'. You could even leave him twenty quid under his windscreen wiper to pay for the upkeep of the labrador. Bring a socket set to BTaP and something for the locking wheelnuts >> Edited by domster on Friday 1st November 12:25

POST 29Original post

Sounds like a cracking idea - I've seem a couple of those poodle transporters and they certainly don't need 'my' lovely brakes. I thought a nice set of Audi 80 ones would do just as well

POST 30Original post

S'pose you'll be wanting to transfer some of that 'bhp' stuff as well will you? You'll need some more of it to warrant use of better brakes in the Jif special.

POST 31Original post

I'll bring the socket set and while you are robbing the brakes, I will transplant the lovely 5 cylinder turbo lump into the old 944 as all that bhp in an estate car is only going to waste.......

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And my dad's Audi S2 could do with that bodykit. Someone distract Jeremy by introducing Mungo to Alison, then we'll get the axle stands out...

POST 33Original post

POST 35Original post

Lemon Yellow is the 'new black' . And I won't here a word heard against it. Well unless it's 'poncey'. (That's a fair one). still love those seats though scottster

POST 36Original post

And let me guess, you'll be wanting the 4WD as an anti badger-worrying device for your 964aRSe. Shall we get some stickers made up for the Domster with pictures of badgers and/or hedgerows, so he can plaster them on the side of the RS in a fighter pilot styleee as he climbs the RS wet handling learning curve.....

It's just one of those 'survival of the fittest' things mate, any badgers/small vermin silly enough to be out of their holes in this weather deserves everything they get!!

POST 39Original post

Thanks for the insurance advice, I was checking online and getting 2 grand plus quotes but my current insurance company (Lancaster) have quoted me £1320, 250 excess, 3000 miles a year - I'm 25 with 2 years NCB. I tired Privilege and the best they could do was somewhere in the region of 1600..... I'll give Footman James a call later. I quite like the 968 in the yellow (although the yellow gear stick gaiter might be taking it a little bit fair… ) – most Porsche’s do suit the yellow, although I can’t really picture a 928 in yellow. Some cars most definitely do not suit it and should fail there MOT’s until they get a respray .

POST 40Original post

Like the bucket seats and the center of the steering wheel, that's not original, don't worry. IMO it looks the dog's boll***s in white:

POST 41Original post

O-oh, here we go again......... Just happen to have a Black 968CS M030 in the shop waiting on its new 9m Racing Quad throttle body / carbon plenum induction system, 9m Racing exhaust and Motec management, target output 320bhp. Oh, as well as the 968 engined 944 open race car that's having an intercooled blower set up fitted for 350bhp. No bull, it's all happening at 9m, and you read it here first! Regarding the 968 in general, are they not just the bargain of the decade?? How can anyone not be interested in a CS for £10k when the equivalent 964RS is £30k? If I can squeeze the power out of it that the chassis deserves it will be one hell of a fast Q car on the tracks. That's it, I'm selling the wife's Smart and getting myself on www.mobile.de this afternoon. Don't you agree that Sarah NEEDS a 320bhp LWT to go to work in the winter?

POST 42Original post

Yep, she may even be able to power slide it on slippy roads in fourth! Please keep us informed with that very interesting project; Do you reckon fitting a supercharger on a 968 engine would be better than fitting a turbocharger? In other words, what do you think of the powerhaus package (968 Turbo S)? (I need some other opinions than these available on rennlist )

POST 46Original post

From a rolling start, mash the pedal and the 315 Michelins just spin. in an industrial esatate long block we hit triple digits, I looked at the boost gauge afterwards and we had only hit 1bar. this was on pump gas, map1 on the Motec. I would love another run on race gas/map3. car sure turns heads when we were rumbling around the city.

POST 48Original post

I only use the best yeast extract to acheive that colour... It's french as well...

POST 49Original post

If you are going to turbocharge the 968 properly, you need an engine rebuild to drop the compression, all the requisite parts and Motec or similar to hang it all together. I read the article on the yellow 968 and was seriously impressed, I would love to do one myself but the bottom line is that there is no way anyone can generate a market in the UK for £15,000 conversions, irrespective of the fact that with 400bhp you will have to have serious brake and suspension mods which will push the budget to well over £20k (on a £10k car??. We can do it, but no-one is asking. The supercharger conversion is an easier one to package really, simply a bolt-on job on a stock engine to overcome the woeful intake efficiency of the standard engine, so a circa £5-6000 package makes perfect sense, hence I have an order for the first system. This finally leads us on to the atmo package, and although this will be less powerful and more expensive than the blower, will be perfect to give the car RS type power, response and driveability (read fun). I estimate a finished price of around £8000, and we have a car in the shop for the first one as well. Yer pays yer money and makes yer choice, I suppose.

POST 51Original post

Cracking weekend guys to all those at BTaP. Shame the headley Tyres managed to drop one of my alloys on its face and scratched the other and someone's dinked my front wing, but hey, what do you expect from tyre fitting places these days?

POST 52Original post

Yes, I was very sorry to see that the blighters had done that. You should complain. BUT. What a car. That was unbelievably YELLOW . A yellower car I have not seen. In fact...even my RED Boxster S isn't more RED that yours is YELLOW. Parked next to one another it looked like an ad for Smarties. Lovely car, Scottster. Nice to see it at BTaP.

POST 53Original post

AJ, I think we could be persuaded to fit a blower to an S2 if you asked me nicely.

POST 54Original post

Cool But it would cost as much as I paid for the car to get it fitted! What sort of output would you expect with a blower? Would be fun to change the engine for a V8 to make it sound as good as it goes Hmmm, time to start saving...

POST 55Original post

Lovely lovely car - Yellow suits it too a tee (although the gear gaiter is not to my taste ). Good choice!

POST 56 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll start a thread so he can tell you all about his new Porsche... ...it's speed yellow. It looks like a 924 on steroids. It's a... 968 Club Sport, and very nice it is, too. As he went sideways under power unintentionally in the wet yesterday night, I gave him a little and said 'welcome to the world of the lightweight Porsche'
