I believe them because i'd only had the car for a couple weeks and hadn't really tested the passenger seat.

Suggestion

As for the shop, mighty convenient but maybe true, after all removing and replacing the seat shouldn't affect that.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

After repairs which involved removing the seats I got my 987 Boxster back and the passenger seat makes a grinding noise when adjusted forward or back. Anybody familiar with this?

POST 2Original post

If it was fine before the repair and the seat was removed as you stated the first move should be to contact the service center and move forward from there. Clearly something changed.

POST 3Original post

Thanks. Yeah I talked to them today and they said it actually was making that noise before they took it out. I believe them because i'd only had the car for a couple weeks and hadn't really tested the passenger seat. They said it could be the motor or the tracks.

POST 4Original post

Well it is the passenger's seat so you can put it in a generic position and live with it while you investigate your repair options. As for the shop, mighty convenient but maybe true, after all removing and replacing the seat shouldn't affect that.
