Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What is the difference between these audio options? Can both be updated to the Becker Grand Prix Unit ? Thanks in advance Mark

POST 2Original post

CDR 23 has diversity tuner, i.e it can listen out for traffic news on lots of channels, and butt into the radio station you are listening to. It has an optical connection for the newer Audiopilot version of the Bose and so the station etc appears on the rev counter display. It looks neater. A car which has CDR 23, i.e 2003 model year, will have optical connections (referred to as MOST bus), which makes it much harder to upgrade the stereo, where in a pre 2003 car its just a straight swap for whatever stereo you want.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is is Aug 2002 - so guess it could be a 2003 model? Assuming then it will be harder to upgrade to a Becker Grand Prix ?

POST 4Original post

Could well be. There's probably a way of telling from the chassis no, but not sure. It's a good stereo though to be fair. Does the car you're looking at have sound pack or Bose?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think it has the sound upgrade as there are speakers in the door (which i'm told a'int standard) - though I don't see an option code to indicate this.

POST 6Original post

Is it a C4S? In which case, sound pack was standard.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No it is a 2002 Carrera 2 - what option code was the sound upgrade. Have a list here.

POST 8Original post

You might be lucky and have a non-MOST car, my 4S was a 03 model having a build date of September 2002, delivered October 2002 and that was a MOST car. MOST = pain in the ass to upgrade. Requires new headunit, amps etc.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How can you tell if the car is MOST ? From option codes?

POST 10Original post

A CDR-23 rather a CDR-22. An amp in the boot with a lovely orange fibre optic lead going into it.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm guessing upgrading to a Becker Grand Prix is a much more difficult job then ? Perhaps impossible ..... What are other options for getting an Ipod and Bluetooth ?

POST 12Original post

Is there anyway of telling which cars have the MOST bus? Which head unit would indicate a MOST bus?

POST 13Original post

On a 996 a CDR-23 would denote a MOST bussed car.

POST 14Original post

"radio information in the rev counter display" where's that then? doesn't happen on my MOST/BOSE car. is it an upgrade or something?

POST 15Original post

My 99 carrera has a cdr 22 fitted I want to upgrade it, are my options either a cdr23 or a more modern becker unit and if I go for a more modern unit which one is the best, I'd ideally like it to bluetooth with my ipod touch and nokia phone or failing that a wired ipod connection, where do you hide the ipod though? any help/opinions would be great ty N
