Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

2009 Carrera Cabriolet I read a lot about battery drain problems with this year and model. There seems to be a lot of speculation, but no real answers. My service has always been performed by the local Porsche dealership, but they are very uncertain about a diagnosis. Suspect the Bose amplifier needs replacing, but they can't guarantee that will fix the problem. When I turn the car off, and remove the key, there is a static sound coming from one of the rear speakers. It stops when the alarm is engaged (if I stay in the car and activate the alarm with the key fob, remaining still to not activate the internal motion sensor, the static stops). However, even activating the alarm every time will still result in a dead battery after 2 weeks of non-use, with no trickle charger. The trickle charger helps, but I still only get 14-16 months out of every new battery. It's a great car, but the problem is maddening. Anybody have a similar issue with a good diagnosis? Thanks.
