The seat goes all the way back (presumably to make it easier to get in, but unfortunately pushes back quite hard on the "windbreaker" I have installed behind the seats).

It's not that the system doesn't remember my setting because when I turn on the ignition I just need to hold down the memory button with the key symbol and the seat and mirrors will go to my preferred setting.

I would prefer, though, if the seat would just go to MY setting directly when I unlock the car with my remote (as the manual seems to indicate it should).

It seems to me that the setting was assigned to the specific key cause it will go to my preferred setting when I push the memory button with the key logo.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I've had my '04 996 C4S cab for a little more than 5 months now and there is one little detail that is beginning to annoy me. Every time I unlock the car with the remote in the key the driver's seat and mirrors go to some standard setting. I understand from friends that this is the case in their cars, so why does mine do it differently and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance Henrik

POST 2Original post

It sounds like it hasn't assigned the seat position you set in memory to the remote of the key you are using. Did you press the key button while you were holding down the M button when you stored your setting? Other than that :dont know:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, that's exactly what I did, and have tried variations (ignition on, engine on etc) while doing it. It seems to me that the setting was assigned to the specific key cause it will go to my preferred setting when I push the memory button with the key logo. Thanks for your suggestion though.
