Seriously though, my wife uses the car for a short commute & the mpg is usually below 20 but by the end of the weekend after a bit of "spirited" driving its back up to 23-24.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hadn't reset mine for ages, had a look today as a good indicator of my combined driving - 23.4mpg - 3600cc btw Not moaning as everyone of those 23.4 miles that I received courtesy of my gallon was fully enjoyed! : ) Out of interest how does that fair compares to the rest of you guys??

POST 2Original post

About the same for me - apart from one particularly frugal journey from south Wales to Folkestone when I 'achieved' an average of 40.7 mpg by driving at 55 mph al the way. Not so enjoyable but worthy of note. I reckon that the new 3.6 997.2 will achieve more than that if driven really carefully.[ ]

POST 4Original post

Generally I get just under 20, but a lot of my miles are commuting across town, and when I get a chance of a run I am usually giving it a good Italian tune-up. [ ] It doesn't help the economy being a Tip.

POST 5Original post

between 20-22mpg, have had a few times where the first number has had a 1 as the first number[ ]

POST 6Original post

20-22 mpg mainly around town and foot to the floor when the road clears

POST 7Original post

my obc shows around 25.2 mpg sometimes as high as 25.8 mpg !! and its a tip c4 75pno

POST 8Original post

For my 996 Turbo normally around 25mpg for a combination of city and 'A' class roads, but recently got 34 on a trip to the highlands cruising about 70 with the occasional burst of fun round the quiet roads. However the lowest Ive been while driving on public roads has been 19 with 14 on a track.

POST 9Original post

Normal average is early 20's, but seen sub-12mpg on the track... the lower the mpg the more enjoyment that is being had[8D]

POST 10Original post

Circa 25 to the gallon....50 mile round trip for work, essentially on quiet A roads.

POST 11Original post

About 24-25 running around. I have been known to get in the mid thirties on a run, but its no fun driving like a grandad!!

POST 12Original post

averaged 27 with my C4S, Turbo S is about 25 but when I try................. it plummets[ ]

POST 13Original post

Haven't reset the counter for a long time (about 12 months probably) and it's currently sat on 28.7 [ ]

POST 14Original post

22.8mpg for a 3.6ltr over the last 12 months.

POST 15Original post

Part town and part 60mph I get between 22-24 mpg. Also read that if you less than 2000 rpm the injectors 'squirt' about 30% less fuel. Been trying it- coast under 2000rpm in 5th or 6th and give it a bit of welly up to 4500 in the other gears to get there = same MPG!![ ] Craig

POST 16Original post

Oops perhaps I give it a bit too much of the loud pedal ! Mine says 18.2mpg and that hasn't been reset in at least a year.

POST 18Original post

22mpg average driving fast and slow however i got 35mpg on motoway @ 80mph on 140mile run

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mine seems about right for normal driving, normal in the sense of a little heavy foot once in a while anyway! In terms of motorway though, some people reporting 30+!! I'm sure I have never managed this when crusing at between 80 & 85. I'm taking my 911 on a 65 mile round trip on the M5 tomorrow, will reset the mpg before I head off! Let you know how she performs!

POST 20Original post

average 25 to 27 going to work, manage 30+ on motorway cruise and 36 on one journey (due to rain and traffic) but thats a one off i think, also had it down as low as 14 but least said about that the better

POST 21Original post

20mpg if I wear my carpet slippers, lead boots a lot less. GT3 Mk 1 Cliff.

POST 22Original post

I get 24 - 25 on my commute into London and when I go down to Devon to see the wifes family I get around 28. Oddly, when my wife does the same journey to Devon - she gets an average over 33. I think the 5 miles per gallon is a fair price to pay for having some fun!

POST 23Original post

On my 12 mile commute to and fro work I get around 22mpg normally and 26 if I pussy foot around on the trip. Once the engine is warm then its around 27-28 on a run to Wales and back with 33 if i'm being careful (boring). Mark

POST 24Original post

Ok I'm going to throw the averages out a little here. While I get about 28mpg on a motorway trip at 80mph and about 20-22mpg around town in free flowing traffic, my commute into work is a different story. I have a 6 mile trip through stop start traffic. More stop than start and can easily take 45 minutes. Can often sit not moving for minutes at a time repeatedly on the way in. If I reset my trip computer at the beginning of the week and don't have a longer trip to balance it out then I can easily end up with 13 to 14mpg as my average for the week. My car is a 3.4l tiptronic.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

32.9mpg on my first M5 run - quite good really. Combined with some off motorway dirving and a small amount of heavy foot, 30.4mpg.

POST 26Original post

Who cares...[ ] Isn't it part of the terms of ownership that you get the most of out these cars by getting as few mpg as possible? Seriously though, my wife uses the car for a short commute & the mpg is usually below 20 but by the end of the weekend after a bit of "spirited" driving its back up to 23-24. Fantastic - drive quicker & save the planet!!
