Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Another thing is you might want to get all the bushes done while they have various bits out (ie do both sides rather than just the one side that needs replacing) - maybe as a bit of preventative maintenance?
Leading evidence: 'Replace ) - maybe as a bit of preventative maintenance' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Can I do all this myself on my drive with a jack and socket set (250piece!) ?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hi,
Ok, took my car (1998 c2) into an OPC last week as I have terrible rattling noises and bangs and clunks happening. They diagnosed the following things that need replacing:
Front anti roll bar drop links (both sides)
Front top mounts (both sides)
Front control arms (bothe sides)
REAR anti roll bar drop links (both sides)
Rear control arms (bothe sides)
+ geo
this came to £2000 inc give or take a few £££'s
I laughed and walked out 1 hours labour down for £114
I then went to a porsche specialist here in the north West
They examined the car for 2 hours and told me that Porsches list of things wrong were a load of rubbish, they said it ACTUALLY needs the following:
Front top mounts (both sides)
A front track rod end (previously un-detected by OPC last week!)
1 x rear anti rollbar link
2 x anti roll bar bushes
they have quoted me the following for labour:
1/2 hour for track rod end
1/2 hour for rear anti roll bar link
1/2 hour for rear anti rollbar bushes
3 hours for the top mounts
+geo which is 1hour
they charge £70/hour + VAT
this comes to £455+ VAT for labour.
My question is:
Can I do all this myself on my drive with a jack and socket set (250piece!) ?
OR if I cant is this a good price for the above stated work?
OR should I just get a local garage to do it at £40/hour inc?
All answers much appreciated
Your specialist sounds like a good place and reasonable price. You might be able to do it yourself, I dont know how much of a mechanic you are, but they are charging a fair price for the work. The only thing I would say is most indy's usually allocate 2hrs for a geo, yours says only 1hr.
Another thing is you might want to get all the bushes done while they have various bits out (ie do both sides rather than just the one side that needs replacing) - maybe as a bit of preventative maintenance?
Would advise you get it done by a garage. Mine had a worn drop link and I cant get the old one out of the front strut. Tried club hammer whacking, oils, blowtorch, but the ***** is stuck. I am no stranger to working on suspension either. Also its quite heavy physical work and for me, spending a couple of hundred quid for someone else to have all the pain is worth it. Sounds like the indy route is far better than 2k.
Unless you have a car lift, pass.
Leave it to the Indie.
You don't want to be rolling about on the floor tackling that lot.
Your tool box does not have the tools for that lot in any case.
