I know it's a PITA to pull, but I think you need to check the electrical connectors behind the gauge cluster.

Be careful because at our age things can get brittle.Clean the connectors (pins and sockets) with electrical contact cleaner.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seeking your expertise to diagnose an issue that just started happening. I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden, the ABS and PSM lights came on; at the same time my speedometer (digital & analog) stopped working as well as my Tiptronic controls. I tested the braking system and the PSM, both seemed to be in working order and all other driving aspects seem normal. My battery is relatively new and holds charge well. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Done any work on the car lately? I know it's a PITA to pull, but I think you need to check the electrical connectors behind the gauge cluster. Be careful because at our age things can get brittle.Clean the connectors (pins and sockets) with electrical contact cleaner. Before you reinstall the cluster, start up the car and see if things work.

POST 3Original post

Check uour abs sensors, cables and connections. Loosing the speed signal will do all of this. A good scanner can graph all 4 wheel speed sensors and u can see uf ine drops out.

POST 4Original post

The above suggestions are valid. I would also confirm that the alternator is charging by testing at the battery. You should also just start with putting a scanner on it for any codes. Otherwise you are just shooting in the dark.

POST 5Original post

Check all main cables to and from the battery including ground cables. Anything odd with your ignition switch? Id keep an eye on it and monitor it. Could have been cosmic ray or hacker, lol. In all seriousness, see if it only happens on that specific piece or road. I had a weird problem with my Mini Cooper S once, then twice, always in the same exact areas of road and never again or anywhere else.
