Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I’ve changed the horn sound on mine and was wondering if the 996 has the same locking sound
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Id like some help from the 996 community if possible. Can someone help me with a picture of their door lock horn located next to the battery and the connector? I'll upload a picture of what the alarm horn looks like on a 981 for reference. Trying to figure out if they are the same.
Thank you
What do you mean by "door lock horn?" I've owned my car since new and it doesn't honk when the doors are locked. If you're hearing a "beep" horn when you lock the car, it means that something is open. If the console lid is open on my car, it will beep like a VW Beetle horn. If your console lid and everything else is closed, your radio might not be inserted all the way in or an aftermarket radio was swapped at some point and a connector wire that keeps the beep from sounding wasn't connected. In terms of a horn next to the battery, I've never seen one next to my battery, so this might have been added to the car.
If you double-press your key fob when locking,
your horn will sound once.
I used to single-press my fob when locking, but I have an issue with my interior sensor activating the alarm falsely, so Ive overcome this problem by double-pressing the fob.
I didnt know there was a separate horn for this. I always assumed it was the main horn.
If the horn beeps or light flash while locking, there might be a fault somewhere. An open circuit or bad sensor.
@Andydna15
pretty much what you pictured, l but I couldnt get my panel off, previous owner put a screw that wont come loose, best pic I could get for now. This is an 03 C4S
That’s interesting—I didn’t realize it doesn’t beep when everything is fine. On the 981, it makes that VW Beetle sound when locking, which is why I was curious. I’ve changed the horn sound on mine and was wondering if the 996 has the same locking sound
The parking lights just flash when you lock the car. On my car, I re-wired the front side marker lights to flash when the parking lights flash, which makes it easier to see that the car is locked.
