Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This post takes the form of a few questions: How, who or with what can I replace the dashboard speakers on my 911 (996) One appears to be faulty (very muted, just some low range sounds). Can I use standard replacements or is there specific ones. Can you suggest anybody n the North, NW, SW or SE London area that can do this? The speaker very occasionally works and I wondered if it was due to a problem with the PCM - anyone had experience of this?

POST 2Original post

Sounds like a dryweld problem, have you taken the speaker out?, it's very easy, 2 torx screws, once out have a look at the connections to see if one is loose. You can find the Nokia versions on Ebay all the time, occasionally the Bose come up... :thumb:

POST 3Original post

try Car Audio Security at Hayes...very good outfit.

POST 4Original post

Had a similar problem with my car but it turnded out to be the cross over in the amp, which was a porsche amp. But both my tweeter speakers on the dash were playing up.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looks like its the crossover THanks for coming back to me on the crossover issue. I replaced the speakers all round and still have the problem with the lone speaker, as before. Did you go to Porsche to have the crossover amp replaced or did you go to a car audio place or somewhere special. If the latter, what did they replace it with.
