Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Curious if anyones found a longstanding solution to fixing this.

POST 2Original post

There is not much you can do other than repaint it. The biggest issue continues to be preparation. The metal surface was not primed, painted over plastic, and the paint...... is another story. However, I think that the handbrake and the surfaces seem to wear faster and take a lot of abuse, rings, and all of that seat junk. You could wet sand it smooth and find a paint match or find a piece of sign vinyl rather than paint....it takes a lot of abuse, is easy to clean, and can be removed and replaced if needed without a lot of hassle and forms around surfaces. A variety of companies make vinyl, as there are many types, thicknesses, and shades of black, gray, or other colors. In the interest of sanity, I may use black vinyl to fix some nagging issues. I have spent a significant amount of time trying to match my Boxster Red interior, and now, after many failures, I can finally match.....In some cases, I have sent the plastic pieces out to have them leather-wrapped. The other thing is that I use an airbrush, and I can direct the color and blend it out.
