What I think can probably mess it up is using the plastic parts which are covered in carbon so they are all slightly over size.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys I'm thinking of doing a few things to the C4S now it seems that depreciation has stabilised somewhat and it may worth more than a baked bean can when I get to the balloon on the finance. Anyway I'm thinking;- 1 - X73 suspension - because the existing dampers are worn out. 2- cruise control - SPECS cameras!! 3- Phone Module for PCM- nearly killed myself using a bluetooth headset, also already got a dual Sim set up so I can transfer easily from one car to the other 4- Add some Carbon to the interior. I bought this car pre the "correction" in the market so to upgrade to a 997 with all these + the other things I already have ( heated seats, sunroof, PSE) would start at around 20K so not really cost effective. I have OPC warranty till Oct and am thinking extend once more for the two years so have already budgeted that. What I'd be interested in getting are opinions on these mods is there any others I should consider, has anyone who has done this regretted it. Thanks in advance Morgan 996C4S 2003 Slate Grey, 45K , Manual, Litronics, PCM2, Bose, HFS,PSE,

POST 2Original post

IMHO carbon bits on the interior look a bit max power saxo like. I've seen them on cars for sale and it wish the owner had left them alone, so as long as you return to normal spec I guess its ok. Buying an umolested car is important to me. Odd wheels, LED's etc really put me off. The other mods seem sensible After buying various leather treatment options, with no real sucess, the only I want to do to mine is get new seat covers, but at what looks like about 1200 + per seat for a bit of leather I seem stuck with mine, they are not bad but just detract from the rest of the and show its age. Anyone bought gen porsche seat covers cheaply?

POST 3Original post

Is your car currently covered by an Official Porsche Extended Warranty? If it is and you want that to continue, you will need to use Porsche sourced parts. This point will have an impact on further Option suggestions. Regards Big Bob :bye:

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bob yes its covered on the old one at the moment, undecided on the way to go yet, but want to retain the option hence the pcm phone module Vs Mobridge etc and X73 Vs KW's Take the point on the Carbon , but want to do something to enhance the interior if you know what I mean. regards Morgan

POST 6Original post

X73 is the way to go IMHO if you want improved ride and no warranty issues. Probabaly one of the best modifications you can do, both aesthetically and in performance. What about fitting the OEM short shift or even the 997 shifter, both are an improvement over stock and being Porsche parts won't give you warranty 'issues'. You're going to be spending a fair bit of money on carbon to make it look as though it's not just an add on, why not use that money for a driving holiday?, much more enjoyable. Something like down through France and Spain? :thumb:

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You need Burberry trim in there to finish it off, ! TBH that seems just what I was thinking of, The first 996 I looked at had was similar and if it hadn't been the first car I saw I probably would have bought it. What I think can probably mess it up is using the plastic parts which are covered in carbon so they are all slightly over size. Anyway I think they will be last on the to-do list , will spend the money on the important things first. thanks for the replies keep them coming Morgan
