Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
I'm looking for a 996 C2 (Maybe C4) but am a bit confused as to how much a good would should fetch? I'd be looking at something 03-04 ideally ject black (Or another dark metalic colour), excellent condition and <50K miles. My budget is £25K which seems to put me in range of some but the better ones seem to be edging nearer 30K! How much could I generally expect to haggle or is this not really an option with the good examples (I see they go quite fast!).
Also, I've only just started looking so not really sure how the credit crunch has affected prices - what were cars simmilar to what I have described going for say 6-12 months ago?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Nick
I have reviewed the price of the 996 tt on pistonhead (I have one and I am not selling it) and it is going up (I would say +£2K over the last two months) so I expect the same for the other 996s. I think for £30K you can target a nice 996 C4S
I am looking for the same car. I think £25k will get you a 2003 but with 40k miles plus. The problem at the moment is that there are very few cars coming onto the market. I think people are afraid of prices and holding on until they stabilise and maybe even go up. There is probably more bad news to come in the economy so who knows the market could head down again.
Prices are never going to go up, stabalise yes, but never up. £30k will get you a cracking C4s, I should know, I sold mine last week for that :thumb:
If your budget can reach that amount I'd go for it, a C4s will always demand a higher price and be very saught after, a bog standard C2 will continue to plummet down the tunnel of depreciation, and if it continues the way it has this past 6 months, expect to be paying less than £20k come the summer
The deal with prices is in this market is find a buyer who wants a certain spec and type and if the cars right they will not care if it varies from the rates advertised for similar models, The great thing is if you have one and dont need to sell, you can continue to ask top money, but there will always be someone that needs to raise cash quick for other more mundane reasons, houses, holidays etc, and this is the time to make your deal I guess.
Sadly when I got mine paid top money as the owner had had it from new paid 85k and it had lived a most pampered life, and all those things reduce your bargaining power.
Hi,
I got an 03 c4s with 17k on the clock, two owners full porsche history, in October last year. I paid just under 30k for it back then.
One of the best things i have done. I use it daily and have clocked up just under 5k so far. It had taken me up untill the last few weeks to really getting settled with the car and feel like i really know what its going to do. I think it also takes a while to stop worrying about how much hard earned cash i have invested into my dream car.
With prices the way they are i think you could get an 04 for the same money i paid back i October. Stirlings just sold what looked like a lovely one for about 28.5k I think that one was 03.
Shop around and test drive a few, you will know the right one when it comes up..... Get the checks done, and drive off into the sunset.....
Enjoy it and show us pics when you find one !
Shameless plug No.2!! (Although nothing like the colour you're looking for):

The world's your lobster in the £20k to £30k bracket, I'd say. I would strongly suggest a mileage that's way below 50,000 miles though. You've no need to go for one with anywhere near that milage for the money you've got to spend!
All the best!
Adrian.
