Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I wanted to change the reverse light switch since it wasn't working on my 01 C4, did that and now the car won't start. Lights up like normal but won't crank. Hooked up the Icarsoft and "Terminal 86 S not Deteced" and "Alarm system fault" are what comes up. Any idea what Terminal 86 S stands for? Any idea how to fix it?

POST 2Original post

Terminal 86S is DIN 72552 automotive speak/standard for the +12V feed to the alarm relais' coil.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm being told it could be associated with the ignition switch as well? Any idea where the alarm relay is located?

POST 4Original post

Test all fuses with a "test light"....quick and easy ....you probably just blew a fuse messing with things...

POST 5Original post

Like i said in your other thread....check all the fuses. Its E-1 btw per the Bentley Manual. It is fed through the ignition lock

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Turns out it was a bad ignition switch. All fixed and back on the road!
