Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I suspect the real reason I was allowed to drive the car was that someone upstairs in Porsche wants me to buy one.
Leading evidence: 'real reason i was allowed' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'real reason i was allowed' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace spacing' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Seems as though the didn't want to change the spacing on gears 1 through 5.

I just downloaded the August edition of C&D and there is a fantastic article where Car & Driver were allowed to join Porsche for final shake-down testing of the 991 in South Africa.

Suggestion
Porsche must be using the same glue they were using on the Ferrari 458.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just downloaded the August edition of C&D and there is a fantastic article where Car & Driver were allowed to join Porsche for final shake-down testing of the 991 in South Africa. Biggest problem: my Zinio for iPad app doesn't have any copy/paste functionality...so here's the highlights that I see:
* Carrera S to have 400 HP
* Carrera to have 350 HP, share 3.4l engine w/ Boxster S
* 2 trannys: 7-spd manual and 7-spd PDK
* Launch Control available on both transmissions
* 2.5 in longer, 4 in longer wheelbase
* longer wheel base to accommodate HYBRID drivetrain in 2016 mid-cycle refresh
* 12-15% improved fuel efficiency (euro cycle)
* electronic parking brake
* full-length sunroof
* 19-in wheels standard on Carrera, 20-in on Carrera S (20s optional on Carrera)
The article doesn't appear to be on C&D website yet, so if I can figure out how to copy/paste, I will.
Also, VERY clear pic of interior...looks like a 2-dr Panny to be honest.

Porsche's new 911 is in final development in South Africa. We tag along for a ride.

Thanks for posting. Can't say I'm holding my breath for this version of the 911 formula. I don't find anything about the car to be particularly appealing. As much as I like my 997 it is a large car compared to the air cooled 993 (so is the Cayman for that matter) and bigger is not better when it comes to sports cars IMHO. Unless the Cayman or Boxster are transformed into something more than they are now, it's likely that my 997.2 will be my last Porsche.
It will be a first. They're doing it for better fuel mileage. Seems as though the didn't want to change the spacing on gears 1 through 5.
Great that the MT will live through at least one more generation.
I'm with you. As interesting as this article is, it doesn't make me want one. As I have no doubt that the 991 will be 'better' in every way, it will also be larger, which is a deal-breaker for me. I love the compact & sporty feel of my 997. If I wanted more room, I would have stuck with my P2S.
OK I'm going to let you in on a little secret, C&D isn't the only non-Porsche entity to drive the new 991. On a recent trip (disguised as a business trip I might add - always nice to get expenses covered) I was provided the opportunity to drive the 991, provided that I didn't talk about it here until a certain date has passed. That date hasn't passed yet so all I can say is that I've driven one. :taunt: I will also add that it was NOT the same car mentioned in the C&D article. I suspect the real reason I was allowed to drive the car was that someone upstairs in Porsche wants me to buy one. :hilarious:
Ken you never cease to surprise and amaze! The embargo end date is in August isn't it? IMHO the 997.2 GTS is going to be the next 993 C2S that people will be trying to scarf up next year and beyond as happened in 1999 when the 996 was introduced. For those of you who have the GTS, you did good, for those thinking about it, don't wait too long. Just my 02 cents.
Great stuff, thanks for the advance info guys!
K-Man, all I can say is "you lucky b*gger" and I look forward to this critical date so I can read about your impressions of the latest version of the P-icon.
