I think I’d look at removing the cluster and checking the needle is seated properly on the spindle forts of all.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Has the needle come off / slipped on the tachometer spindle? This would appear to be the most likely cause I think I’d look at removing the cluster and checking the needle is seated properly on the spindle forts of all. Ive not done it, but there are YouTube videos showing how to remove the cluster to change the dial colours - and it appears reasonably straightforward. You can reassemble the cluster, re-seat the needle at the 0 RPM position and all should be good.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The rev counter on my 13 plate 981 now starts from below zero and when driving goes upto around 1000 revs. Is there a way to reset the rev counter?
