On the warranty, I suppose you might check whether they're supplying an OPC or 3rd Party warranty.

Are they giving it a service - even just a change of oil?

I've set my heart on the 40th anniversary model so although the sensible thing to do would be to see and drive as many different cars as possible I'm jumping straight in with this one as they're rare as hen's teeth with less than 30,000 miles and I'm an impatient ***** (that often lives to regret that impetuousness!).

They may have been chrome and then had wheel refurbs during its life, especially if it has been sold used previously (hence just sprayed silver)

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

"My car is lovely. It is ready to go. Last serviced by Porsche Swindon at 23978 miles on 05.12.2007. I have checked with Swindon, next due at 43978 miles or more likely in December 2009. Mot is until 14.12.2009. My technicians have checked over, and all is well. Front tyres are 6mm, and rears are 3mm. I have both keys, and road tax is included until the end of September 2009."
Supplied with 6 months warranty (although the dealer thinks it still has some OPC warranty as it was bought from an OPC less than twelve months ago).
I'm probably being a bit mad (never driven a 911 or even seen this car yet) but I've always wanted a 911 and a 40th Anniversary model really does tick all the boxes for me on paper (colour, narrow body with tt front end etc. etc.).
Barring major incident I'm due to collect this Saturday. What could possibly go wrong (only buying blind!)...
Forgot to say that there are a couple of quick questions I need to ask in the morning:
UK dealer supplied?
Sports exhaust?
Rear main seal replaced?
Why are the wheels not chrome? (even though I prefer them not chromed!)
Still under OPC warranty?
Anything else I need to check?
Chrome alloys came on both the Anniversary and the Millenium models. On the Anniversary these were based on the Carrera II wheels and on the Millenium, they were based on the Turbo twists. Both wheels were size 18". The most likely cause of the Anniversary pictured above not wearing chrome wheels was because they were prone to corrosion.

There you go! It shows how much I know. I honestly didn't know that Porsche produced a car with chrome Rims. My apologies if my comments appeared condescending in any way, as it wasn't intended.
The funny thing is one of my favourite saying starts "better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt".

No fools on here they've all been and gone. Everbodies mad though!
Your weapon of choice will always remain a special C2.
Enjoy your new acusition.

On the warranty, I suppose you might check whether they're supplying an OPC or 3rd Party warranty.
As always, you need to know what's covered, maximum value per claim, up to whatever total claim value in the life of the warranty.
Most importantly, make sure you know what the exclusions are regarding items not covered and whether there's a qualifying period before making a claim.

I'm keen to know what your warranty terms are, feel free to PM me when you know them if you prefer not to discuss the details here.
Enjoy your new baby
Assume it was HPI'd?
Are they giving it a service - even just a change of oil? I know it is 2 years but it does not seem unreasonable to get new plugs and oil, which for a dealer is peanuts.
Did you get a specialist PPI or RAC/AA?
Thanks for all the replies, seems a great forum to me!
I spoke to Porsche Centre Swindon (who have done all the service work from new including the RMS change in May 2006. Turns out it has the OPC warranty until 29th May so I'm assuming that this is sufficient peace-of-mind and therefore haven't asked for an independent check or a 'little' service.
Its done less than 3,000 miles since its last service nearly fifteen months ago so I'm of the mind to take it as is then arrange the 'two year' service six months early at the end of May so that if anything else needs doing I can catch it under warranty.
Somewhat confusingly I can only arrange another 12mths OPC warranty once I've owned the car for three months so effectively I'll have to have a month with no warranty. Seems slightly perverse but hey-ho. Guess I need to scour the forum to see if the £1350 OPC warranty is the best route anyway.
There's still the (hopefully very slight) possibility that there's a problem with the car when I go to collect it on Saturday so nothings done until its done but at the moment I'm hoping that the OPC warranty should be assurance enough that the car is correct.

Roll on Saturday!
See if you can get the seller to renew the OPC warranty now before you take ownership. OPC are desperate for cash so you've got a chance. Hope you enjoy your new car :thumb:
