Suggestion

If the above does not cure, disconnect battery and lock manually, that way the winows will stay up and at least it will be dry and semi-secure (I don't think you can lock the passenger door without power?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a Porsche 996 cabriolet which currently has the hard top on for the Winter. When I lock the vehicle either by key or Central Locking the car will lock correctly with the windows up. If I go back to the car within 20mins or so all the windows are down including the rear quarter ones and the car is un-locked. This also happens if you leave the car un-locked but close all the doors and windows....... within 20 mins or so all the windows have retracted. This is not funny especially when its raining... Please help. Thanks Andrew

POST 2Original post

Try re-booting the system. Disconnect battery for 5 minutes then reconnect. Sounds like a control module fault. If the above does not cure, disconnect battery and lock manually, that way the winows will stay up and at least it will be dry and semi-secure (I don't think you can lock the passenger door without power? If not park close to a wall.

POST 3Original post

Cabriolet? First theck the carpets under the passenger seat. If they are wet, you'll find that the alarm control module will be soaked because that's where it is located.

POST 4Original post

You can't lock it with power either. There is no key lock on the passenger side.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Solved? Thanks all... I checked the carpets and they were dry..... I couldn't believe it either. This must be the first Porsche I have had that hasn't leaked. I seem to have solved it.... I disconnected the battery for 30 mins or so then when I reconnected the battery the windows immediately went down. I put the key in the driver side door lock turned it to the lock position and held it there until the windows went back up. An audible beep was then heard and since then the windows have remained up and the car has remained locked. Thanks for all your help Andrew

POST 6Original post

Mine locks with power off the drivers side lock manually or by pressing the button on the key fob. Battery disconnected, neither would be an option.
