Suggestion

Did stick is the good old fashoined way and it is the most reliable, the LCD is a great warning / guide but a weekly to fortnightly check on the stick is good house-keeping.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My oil level indicator is reading 1/4 whilst the dip stick (5 mins after a run on level ground) says full!! Is the oil level indicator prone to falsehoods? rgds :?:

POST 2Original post

Yes, I can't figure out which to trust either, perhaps someone can give us both good advice on this Ray 8)

POST 3Original post

Is the oil level indicator from the OBC read while the car is level? On an uphill slope (ie nose pointing up), all the oil will drain to the back and show a 'full' reading of oil, ie distort the true level of oil. ~ Maxie

POST 4Original post

I would say both are quite accurate when used correctly. The car would need to be left stood level for at least an hour (engine off of course) before you should take any readings. Did stick is the good old fashoined way and it is the most reliable, the LCD is a great warning / guide but a weekly to fortnightly check on the stick is good house-keeping.
