Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

- "exhaust system fixings badly corroded", apparently this is common - car is coming on 5 years old, and they won't have been replaced before.

Regarding the possible RMS issue in the past the OPC has said that I have some oil weeping in that area and need to replace the RMS at a quoted £520.I check my dash oil guage every time I start the car and check the dipstick every week and also I have a light coloured garage floor and never have had any oil drips so will monitor the situation.Although the last two times I have been to the garage they havent mentioned the RMS.

Due to paranoia, I put lovely clean cardboard under back end of car when I got home Wednesday eve.

I am on the original clutch so when that needs replacing I may have the RMS done then.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Car was in to local OPC today to get geometry / alignment checked, and they spotted a couple other things too;
- "rear engine oil seal-leak", sounds like RMS? Or the 'other' (intermediate) seal? Either way, I have spotted about 3-drips worth of oil under the rear end in the past 3 months, so should not be immediately concerned? Clutch is fine, so hadn't planned on putting it in soon....
- "engine chain tensioner washer leaking", serious??
- "exhaust system fixings badly corroded", apparently this is common - car is coming on 5 years old, and they won't have been replaced before. Quoted £475 for this, parts & labour (parts only £132, so labour intensive) - better job for an Indy?
Anyone know of Indy in / around Aberdeen?
Thoughts, comments etc on above appreciated.
Cheers
The Report is a license to print money for OPC. They told me about my leak, they all leak, and mine was done only a year ago.
You need to get fixed what you want, not what they want!

I bought exhaust muffers for my car and rang OPC to arrange fitting, they did say that the exhaust fittings could be badly corroded and may need to be cut off and therefore increased labour costs.
They changed the exhaust just by undoing the bolts and the car has done 98,000 miles and was on the original exhaust so I think they are just trying it on.

Hope this helps.

According to Rodders our resident Aberdeen expert - try Motoertune in Shotts. It's a bit of a treck but half the OPC price and don't be tempted into going to Bavaria.

I had one done a couple of weeks ago and the opc spotted that the headlight washers didn't work and added that it would be an additional charge to investigate the cause. They didn't spot that it was actually minus five degrees outside at the time !!!
Needless to say the washers are fine now.
Yeah, separate quotes - almost £700 for RMS, and about £180 for chain tensioner washer (inc circa £14 for the washer). And no indication that they could / should be done at same time, to save cost etc.......
Due to paranoia, I put lovely clean cardboard under back end of car when I got home Wednesday eve. Took car out last night, not a drop of anything sitting. Not planning on booking car in for RMS any time soon....
