Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any pointers, a net search mentions filler necks and filler caps etc.. is there anything that goes on the 996 that is common. Hope you can help lee.

POST 2Original post

Check the 'O' ring in the filler cap. They are prone to splitting. Other than that, it is a pretty rare occurrence. It could be the carbon canister in the front wheel arch, or a vent or fuel pipe loose or split, but I'm only guessing. Whatever it is, it needs sorting sooner rather than later.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
