Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Both of these changes have really improved things but not eliminated the rattle, any ideas anyone?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an 02 plate 996. The front suspension started to make a rattling sound over uneven road surfaces. I have had the top mount bushings replaced and the drop links. Both of these changes have really improved things but not eliminated the rattle, any ideas anyone? M

POST 2Original post

Could be worn bushes in the lower control arms - fairly common problem AFAIK - Simon

POST 3Original post

worth checking to see if the anti-roll bar is fine could be a crack in the bar >

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

SUSPENSION RATTLE It has had a full service recently and the guys went over the whole front end and all was tight and free of any damage. Any thoughts on cost for the lower control arm bushings? M

POST 5Original post

i did on mine a few months ago, indies quoted me irca 450, OPC 650 ,told OPC that I was doing in indy, they matched the price ( wel 465 ) ...

POST 6Original post

Front track control arms (aka coffin arms) can be got for £180 each from hartech (refurbished ones - you give them your duff ones). Fitting should only be 1-1.5hrs max. You dont need a full geo done, only camber I think. Although if you havent had a geo for ages maybe this could inspire you to get it done.

POST 7Original post

Sounds like lower control arms. They crash/rattle when going slowly over bumps. Mine cost about £500 all in to replace. Has been fine since. The way to tell is kick the tyre wall really hard and it will make a similar noise.
