You shouldn't use Vaseline on areas under load such as windscreen surrounds but perfect for things like this.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

How do you get these off and re-fit them.
Mine are half loose and rattling.
Are they adjustable?

Hi,
I would be very interested in your seeing findings, as my rubber trim (which sits above the glass window when closed) is also starting to come a little loose.
I don't have any wind noise from the roof, but it does rattle an awful lot!
On the roof noise, I've noticed that when open the front wind deflector stays down (at least, it did until I sprayed it with silicon grease) and this contributes to the wind noise and buffeting!
Cheers,
GD
I found a way of sorting the rubber trims that sit either side of the glass above the doors when they come loose.
I removed them, cleaned them up and applied a small amount of Vaseline on the underside and then wiped it off. Vaseline chemically reacts with the rubber causing it to expand ever so slightly and therefore provide more friction so the strips don't slide back and forth. You shouldn't use Vaseline on areas under load such as windscreen surrounds but perfect for things like this.
Forgot to mention how to remove them.
There are 4 fittings holding them on, 1 at each end and 2 in the middle that are different.
Basically slide the trim forward an inch or so and lift the front carefully. When it's in the right place the spigot will pop up and you can see the underneath. The rear fitting will come out in the same way. In the middle are 2 plastic fittings that sit in runners on the underside. You can slide them off the end of the strip I think but I push the fittings together. Once the ends are up you can work it out.
OZE
How easy would you say this would be for a complete numpty (ie. me) to do?
Any chance I could either damage the fittings or not be able to get the plastic rail back in again?
Cheers
Trust yourself : )
It'll takes a couple of minutes once you've seen the pics...
Pull the strip forward over the top of the windscreen rubber so the front and rear spigots disengage. Hold the strip by the front clip and gently twist the strip to pop off the middle clips and you're done.
Push the middle clips on first so the rail slides, realign the front and rear clips, push down to engage and back into position. Make sure the rubber line up properly at the windscreen and rear window. Worth doing one at a time so you can use the other as reference.
Make sure you dry off the car body before refitting and it's worth remembering these bits don't fix firmly they rely on the rubber etc to hold them in place
