Hello - I have a
2007 Cayman S
which came with stock manual seats (power recline only) and I want to replace them with 8 way power seats that happen to also come with have memory and lumbar. I really don't car about the lumbar or the memory. The seats that I am considering have all of the modules, wiring and plugs intact. I believe that the passenger seat is plug & play, so my question centers around the drivers seat. My question is this: is the wire harness plug, chassis side (coming out from under the carpeting), the same plug for any drivers seat? Or does my project require a new plug chassis side because I am going from 2 way to 8 way? My thought (hope) is that
Porsche
puts the same plug for every seat for basic power and the main module controls the functionality. Does anybody know? Thanks in advance.
Hi. I did this last year. Basic seats > 18 was adjustable.
The only way to get this working is it replace the wiring harness and seat switch unit from a EU passenger seat.
This gives you a plug and play setup same as the passenger. You will lose the memory function.
Thanks Synthedup - I appreciate the info. Sorry for my ignorance, but what does "EU" mean? And, when you say, "wire harness" - do you mean the
chassis side
wire harness from an EU passenger seat, or is the seat wire harness that you are referring to? And lastly where did you find this wire harness and seat switch? I just want to make sure that I try to find the correct parts. Thanks!

sounds like you’re looking for the ‘comfort’ seats with lumbar, right? Those are not uncommon and if you can find one that didn’t come with the memory module that’s the easiest path:
non-memory to non-memory is direct plug and play
memory to non-memory is pretty straightforward, you’ll need to move the power from the memory module to the regular connector
non-memory to memory is the most work and requires harness/seat module as mentioned by
@Synthedup
Above is for the drivers side, passenger side is is direct swap
@newold_m
- thank for the reply and help. You say that it sounds like I am looking for "comfort seats". Perhaps so, but all I really car about is putting 8 way seats with heat in my Cayman (replacing my 2-way heated seats). I don't care about lumbar, memory or anything else. But, if the seats that I ultimately buy come with those things, thats fine too - as long as the functions on those seats (that I don't care about) don't prevent plug & play for some reason. It sounds like you feel "comfort seats" will be plug & play
if
I avoid buying seats with memory. Is that correct? So, my next question is: by definition, do Comfort Seats not have memory? Thanks!
yep, memory was an option so you can find 8 way + heat w/o it which will make it much easier to swap for you.
@newold_m
Thanks very much newold - this clarification really helps!
Do you have some suggested sources for a passenger seat switch and wiring harness? I assume that I will need to source one from a car sold in the in the UK, Australia, Japan or another country with right-hand drive vehicles. If you have the part numbers or any other information that will be helpful, please share it.
Thanks,
