That will need something to plug into and therefore I'd suggest that's probably the plug for it...........

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is under the rear of my passenger seat (UK car) photo taken from the rear. Does anyone know what the connector just lying there is for? It's not connected to anything. 996 2001 I haven't got the heated seats option so maybe the wires are there anyway as part of the standard loom?

POST 2Original post

Definitely non-Porsche. Maybe it was connected to a tracker or something.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, I assumed it was in the factory loom but now that you say that I'll take a closer look at where the wiring goes and anything written on the connector tomorrow just out of interest. Cheers, Ian

POST 4Original post

Is it clipped into the floor ?? I remember something like that under my seat when I took it out. (I don't have a tracker)

POST 5Original post

I have the same too. I am thinking it was for the seated heat option? ~ Maxie :?:

POST 6Original post

If it is, must be part of the loom, I don't think heated seats were an option on the GT3 !

POST 7Original post

If so, does that mean the heating element is in the seat already? ~ Maxie :?:

POST 8Original post

I have it too, although I have a clip stuck to the bottom of the seat it attaches to. Isn't this the plug used for the air bag disable function? I believe you can buy a special seat clip for child seats that when you plug into it it disables the front and side airbags for the passenger side. That will need something to plug into and therefore I'd suggest that's probably the plug for it........... I have since researched and can confirm that's what it's for. It however isn't simply a switch plug, it needs to see a certain resistance to work as provided by the factory seat belt bar addon.

POST 9Original post

Good call Jeff. It should have loom tape wrapped areound the wires - someone must have removed it, which is why I thought it was aftermarket.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
