Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bought my first Porche (a 996) from a respected indy and had to have the clutch replaced within a couple of thousand miles.
Leading evidence: 'Replace within a couple of thousand miles' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace within a couple of thousand miles' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What's the view on not having a PPI done if a car has full OPC service history, been serviced in last 6 months and has a current OPC warranty, and had new rads and front discs recently. If anything major is wrong it will be covered under the warranty, which I will extend at least once.
I want to buy but organising a PPI is a pain for me and seller and an expense which seems could be avoided on basis of the above. It will also delay the great day.
As a compromise would a RAC inspection be good enough?
have wondered the same!!
I guess my thinking was that anything could have happened to the car since the OPC service....not a huge issue if its dealer sale i suppose. but private. Sold as seen I guess.
If you aren't an experienced Porsche buyer, get a PPI done by a specialist. A FPSH means nothing if the car has had a major shunt and been poorly repaired.
My nephew went to see a nice shiny 997 C2S weekend before last. Peter Morgan condemned the car 2 days later when he did a PPI.

Hah! I'm doing exactly the same thing at the moment. The car I'm (hopefully) buying on Saturday is hpi clear and has an OPC warranty so I'm thinking that that should be all the assurance I need.
But then I've a 911 novice
IMHO
have professional PPI done before you hsnd over th wonga!
OPC warranty is void if there is a non porsche item fitted.
Do you know that is the case?
Dealer won't have a scooby doo
6 months is a long time
Pay your inpection fee to an expert
If he says all is well then you have received value for money
If he says there is a problem then you still have received your value
You cannot loose.
If another man or woman comes on this forum post and says don't have one done then I'll be very suprised.
Did the same myself - had the car for 18 months and great motoring. You can almost guarantee that the aircon condensors are on their way out, unless they've been recently changed. Just a few hundred pounds to fix anyway. Crash damage is the bigest issue. If you don't PPI take it to a tyre /exhaust garage and get it on the ramp. Have a good look underneath with a bright light - most damage repairs are obvious.
Good luck
Hopefully you'll be fine
But a warranty and an HPI clearance dont add up to a great deal
I'd rather spend the £200-£300 for an independant inspection and be 100% sure before hand ing over the readies
Richard H makes a good point. If there has been some damage then it is quite possible it was not OPC repaired and any problems caused by it will not be covered by the warranty.
Presumably a non-specialist could spot that kind of problem.
Richard H is right and knows what he is talking about with Porches, as any PCGB forum member will testify.
A specialist PPI may sound like a waste of a couple of hundred quid but a warranty won't cover poor repairs or a clutch on it's way out.
I bought my first Porche (a 996) from a respected indy and had to have the clutch replaced within a couple of thousand miles. If you don't know these cars, you won't know things like the proper clutch pressure or bite point and a new clutch will set you back £1,100 (typically) at an OPC. If I had paid for a proper PPI, I could have negotiated this cost out of the original purchase price or had them replace it before collection.
Caveat emptor.
