Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Yes I'd second Steve Bull, they fitted all new pads and discs for me a couple of weeks ago and did a good job.

Suggestion
It would be worth checking the service history as selling with it being freshly serviced by a Porsche independent specialist (who can check the car over at the same time) would be money well spent.

I've used both Wright Tune and Autofarm and both were good.

First thing to do is charge or change the battery; if it's old?

thanks, I have just emailed Steve Bull, i'm trying to convince the wife to let me keep so I need to work out what's cheaper, running a Porsche or divorce???
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Morning
My father in law owns a 2002 911 (996) and has recently gone in to hospital. The car has been sat for a while now and the interior has mold on it and the the car doesn't start (just makes that ticking sound on ignition turn and all the electrics flash and the windows move)...possibly dead battery or alternator?
We want o sell the car and don't know which way to go with sorting. I suggested getting a porsche specialist to check it over once valeted and running to give the new buyer confidence that it is still up together which we believe underneath that it is.
Does anyone have any recommendations, its a 2002 911 (996) Tiptronic S in Black. We are wondering if its worth just selling as is.
JP
...morning bud...don't sell as is ...
You've come to the right forum so welcome.
If you share your location it's possible support will be nearby to help?
First thing to do is charge or change the battery; if it's old?
Mold is typical of car has been stood in damp conditions for a while.
Pictures ? Further car details...
Definitely get it valeted and fit a new battery.

Fingers crossed that your father-in -law gets well soon.
Thanks for replying so quickly, the car is in place called Wantage in Oxfordshire, I think its only been stood for a month or so, it's in fair condition I would say but would probably benefit from a service before selling. It does also quite a bit of service history.
I would suggest that a full valet and a full service at a specialist would be well worth the outlay come sale time. The better it looks the more you will get for it.
I think if you spent £500 - £1000 it would be worth it. Most buyers want good condition and up to date servicing.
Have a look in the service history to see who has serviced in the past. Has it been at a local specialist?
Autofarm are in Bicester and well respected.
thanks for the tips on who to go to, 'im getting the car transported to my home in Wiltshire where I can store it securely. I guess somewhere like Dick Lovett would charge an arm and a leg?
To give you an idea..My car was serviced on Friday at Dick Lovett's Bristol franchise.. Major service was £475.. They would do a general health check on the vehicle too as a matter of course..But I would be incline to use an independent as the inspection would be more comprehensive they are also more au fait with the older models. If the car is in the Oxford area then maybe try
Auto farm are near Bicester
Wrightune are Wallingford Oxfordshire
Good luck with it

How does that work? If your wife doesn't want you to have the Porsche then either no Porsche and no divorce, or Porsche and a divorce.
So what you really need to know is, can you afford a Porsche AND a divorce.
Remember, always easier to get forgiveness than permission.
MC
Or have the car sorted ready for sale...and then advertise it somewhere for a silly price and drive it whilst it's waiting to sell :?: best of both worlds, Porsche and no expensive divorce.
Disclaimer...Total Cost of Ownership of a wife is more expensive than both of course.
I've used both Wright Tune and Autofarm and both were good. Being that you're in south Oxfordshire, Wright Tune is probably closer but they are a smaller outfit than Autofarm so might take longer to get a booking. Labour is slightly cheaper at Wright tune too unless you're a Porsche club member
+1 for Wrightune, my cars with them as we speak, expecting an eye-watering bill but nothing compared to what a P dealer would charge.
They were booking around 2 weeks ahead when I rang them :thumb:
I say keep it, if this pandemic has taught me anything its that life really is too short...
