Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a couple questions that I hope someone can help me with. I’m looking at bringing my car out of storage and it’s my first time doing so. I got the oil changed about two weeks before I officially stored the car for the winter. I wanted to have an oil change scheduled before I bring it out of hibernation. The questions I have are: a) Do I need to get it changed right away? b) How long can I drive on it before getting it changed? c) I didn’t see any service records for my car. Is it worth catching up with the service intervals since it’s likely they’ve never been done at a Porsche dealership? The car is approaching 130k miles. The service center for the dealer I bought my car from isn’t accepting appointments until June, so I’m looking at bringing my car to the Porsche Dealership in the next state over, about an hour and a half away. Any help would be appreciated.

Personally, I don't believe in time-based oil changes. Oil doesn't degrade with (reasonable) time. Blackstone has done tons of analysis showing even multiple-decades-old oil didn't degrade. I don't feel it's necessary, but its your car, so you can do what you want. I'd say, drive it until you get the miles you want to change it. I'm runnng my 2.9 with over 7k this next run, because the UOA said it's fine. UOA is the best way to know what YOUR car needs... but IMO changing oil on a non-tracked car before 7k is not necessary. Yes, it's certainly important to get the other stuff done. Brake fluid, coolant swap, maybe replace the water pump, trans fluid, and spark plugs (which should be done every 40k IIRC). The plugs are important since they can seize in the heads if left in too long. I would recommend an indy if you can find one, as it's cheaper than the dealer. This isn't rocket science - it's a pretty standard car engine, otherwise.
