I've got new
TPMS
installed on a new set of wheels on my
Cayman
. I've been trying to get them actually coded to the vehicle with not much luck. I have searched around and not come up with anyone who was able to do this successfully using the
Foxwell
. Usually people want to delete
TPMS
(and frankly I should have done it too).
I'm able to read the wheel electronics ID from each
TPMS
, and I know they're working as I can see the temperature and pressure recorded by each one. However I'm not able to actually write the IDs into the system where it asks for them. I get a rather generic "negative responses" message on the unit.
Has anyone actually been able to program new
TPMS
with their
Foxwell NT530
?

Can read the sensor IDs fine:
Writing those IDs into the system result in this error:
On my
2007 Cayman S
, there is no need to program or code the
TPMS sensors
in the wheels. Just put new ones in and the car will recognize them (provided they are the correct frequency). You may have to go to the dash computer and reset the system by switching it to winter
tires
and then back again. Then the system will learn the new ones in a couple of miles.
Exactly - there is no work needed via
OBD
. Just switch settings, drive, and they should recognize within 10 mi from what I hear. Again, assuming they're the correct ones/frequency.
Oh interesting, I didn't know that. Thank you both for that tip. I'll try that the
next
time I'm out driving!
I'm pretty sure the
TPMS
I have are correct, I ordered specifically
987.2
fitment from Apex wheels.
If that doesn’t work find the nearest Discount Tire and for a few bucks they will sync your new
TPMS
with your car.
Just looping back, yes this trick did work for me and the new
TPMS
work great. Thanks again all for this tip!
I had 4 new
TPMS sensors
installed when I last got new
tires
. The shop didn't do anything special and the new sensors registered within a few blocks of the store. Similarly with my Jeep I had all 4 (5 with spare)
tires
changed which effectively rotated the wheels to different corners and it took a couple blocks before they got sorted to the new location.
Nope. I have even tried programming it with an
Autel
and no luck.
It very well could be it doesn't like these sensors. We'll see what happens when I swap back over to my summer
tires
with OE sensors. Oddly enough I had great luck with Ali sensors on my Honda.
Im about to order new
tires
for rims but i need new
tpms
or have them swapped from the oem rims. I see Huf serms to be the oem brand. Have any of you had success with other brands? I probably will go to Discount tire but wasnt sure if they carried Huf or another compatible brand that works on a
2008 cayman S
.
