Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Porsche changed their minds when it came to the 997 though ..
Leading evidence: 'Replace their minds' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check cam february at the same time' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Did check the MAF values today and they look good.

1st thing I'd be doing is checking your solenoid actuation of each variocam.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I've been assuming my new to me 02/2001 996 would have a service interval light that needs resetting, having just done a major service. I've got durametric, but can't find any options for reset in the cluster. Am I missing something or does the early 996 not have an interval reminder?
Thanks
Thanks.
Too used to BMW's which have had them since the 80's!
I bought the durametric to do the service light and bleed the ABS, neither of which are relevant on this car. Sure it will earn it's keep anyway.
Porsche must think their customers are intelligent enough to not have to be reminded when their service is due
The durametric will come in handy. 1st thing I'd be doing is checking your solenoid actuation of each variocam.
Porsche changed their minds when it came to the 997 though .. wonder why :?:
Vario cam check is an excellent idea ... post up any codes you find .. always fun going through them .
No codes other than a power supply on the airbag module which will be the old knackered battery it had when I got it.
Do you run the solenoid test when the engine's running? Will check cam February at the same time. Did check the MAF values today and they look good.
Maf values and ignition on but engine not running .. you want 1 volt or as close as possible with 1 volt being perfect ... 1.3 volts and upto 1.1 volts is acceptable but a small difference will mean its further out as the revs increase and as such the car will need to compensate for it which it will do normally .. adaptations .. rkat frau and frou.
Running at idle and approx 16-18 kgh depending on a/c on or off .
Vario cam and engine idling or at 2k rpm .. activate drive links for the vario cam and you should hear a noticeable change in the engine .
MAF was 1.02V engine off and ~1.38V at idle which is in the centre of the range according to the workshop manual.
Will check solenoids tomorrow.
Cheers
