Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Whilst trying to remove my front wheel i found that the garage who put on new tyres must have used a pneumatic drill to lock all wheel bolts in place as they were extremely hard to crack free. However....really bad news....my anti theft locking wheel bolt remover tool has completely snapped. I'm told that it is almost impossible to find a replacement (halfords). Can anyone help here, ive attached a photo just in case anyone has a spare i could buy. Failing this, what on earth do i do next !!! My real concern is that not only is the front bolt difficult to remove without the tool but just imagine the rear bolts which are deep into the wheel bolt recesses. Many thanks, currently on my knees praying!!!!!

POST 2Original post

Hi David. Have a look here: http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/wheel_nuts_bolts_porsche.html#a2158 Give them a call and they might be able to just sell you the removal tool. (And put a smidge of grease on those shoulders before you put them back on![ ]) All the best. Adrian.

POST 3Original post

Go to an OPC. They have a master set (there are about 20) and can order you one if they don't have your one in stock.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks adrian and richard.....almost tempted to order one which looked the same from porsche shop. However, after ringing the OPC i discovered there are 35 varieties. Ordered one from OPC which arrived today £26 for the socket seems a bit expensive but have to thank my lucky stars that the original owner fitted porsche locking bolts otherwise it would have meant drilling out....god knows how much that would have cost. Anyway, on with the track rod ends now i can get my wheels off, thanks again guys.

POST 5Original post

A salutary lesson to us all - watch anyone who fits your wheels and make sure thay use a torque wrench not an air impact gun!! ATS tyre fitters can get shirty when you look over their shoulder and correct them on things like this, but a bit of verbal from a tyre monkey is far better than what's just happened here! Glad it had a happy outcome!
