Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, I have just purchased some spyder wheels from a cayman R. With the additional width and offset, I’m trying to establish if spacers will be needed. Does anyone with a cayman R, or these wheel use wheel spacers?

POST 2Original post

I would just try them out first, Then measure to make sure what ever spacer you choose is not going to produce wheel rub. The ride height and camber also play a part here. If your car sits too high due to OEM springs, then you may want to either buy H& R springs and B8 shocks to give that wheel the correct look inside the wheel well. If you have too much gap above the wheel, it creates a lifted look. Not good like taking your Porsche on a surfari.

POST 3Original post

Hi, thanks for your input. I do have it lowered at the moment and have a 10mm front spacer and a 15mm rear. my calculations tell me without spacers the front will be 1mm further in board, and the rears 4mm. I will have to see how they look

POST 4Original post

Interestingly the note from Porsche for their offical spacers says "Note: Not in conjunction with the 19-inch Carrera Sport wheel or the 19-inch Boxster Spyder wheel." I wonder if it's something to do with 19" wheels or the offset of those two?

POST 5Original post

I think it's the offset and rim width. Looks to me like they are okay with you reducing the offset to the low 50s/40s so they allow the 5mm spacer on the more narrow rims only. Assuming that you're not running really wide tires I can't see there being any problem. Below is my unconfirmed info.

POST 6Original post

I have 5mm spacers on my Cayman R from the factory

POST 7Original post

Ah, interesting. So I presume that your rims are 19x8.5 and 19x10 with an effective offset after spacer of 50 and 37?

POST 8Original post

They are 19" wheels but never needed to measure

POST 9Original post

decided to go with a set of OEM 5mm spacers around 😊

POST 10Original post

The new wheels, what are the widths/offsets/tire size? Offsets specs without spacers

POST 11Original post

Looks fantastic! I'll post when mine are fitted

Great site that will do all the math for you. Just saw it was referenced above Alloy Wheel & Tyre Fitment Calculator.
