Would like to keep as standard as possible but would like it to be slightly lower ..running 17 inch standard wheels with spacers.

Suggestion

I've had a 996 C2 previously with KWV3 coil-overs & for most of the road use it had, it wasn't necessary & I ended up increasing the ride height/slightly softening the ride to stop it skipping down the local bumpy lanes so much!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Standard replacement springs are reasonably priced and Bilstien B4's are essentially factory shocks without the absurd price for the Porsche ones tuned slightly differently for each model. if you want to go a little sportier but maintain OEM kit you can get the M030 setup a little harder and lower but it's a bit costlier than it used to be. You may want to also consider doing your top mounts at the same time, they aren't the cheapest things but if yours are original then they probably don't have much life left in them and may as well do them at the same time if you are pulling out the shocks and springs.

POST 3Original post

I went with Bilstein B8s, H&R lowering springs (drops the ride by about 25mm) & new OEM topmounts (997 top mounts fit the 996 & are normally cheaper) on my C4 which gives an MO30 type ride height -if you've a C2, you'll have a few more options than the C4. I've had a 996 C2 previously with KWV3 coil-overs & for most of the road use it had, it wasn't necessary & I ended up increasing the ride height/slightly softening the ride to stop it skipping down the local bumpy lanes so much! 911 & Porsche World magazine ran a feature in the December '19 publication - I have a copy if you're interested I think 😉

POST 4Original post

+1 just fitted mine and had alignment, drives great👍

POST 5Original post

I've got new m030 Bilstein struts and springs and it's great although it is fairly unforgiving. Pretty cheap if you buy the shocks from autodoc etc. I'm happy with the ride and handling balance though I but do wonder about moving to koni FSD dampers though which get some good reviews as the ride can be a bit crashy on the Bilsteins. 10mm drop looks good too without screwing up the geometry.
