Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If you change your visors to leather would you have that done at your dealer?
Leading evidence: 'Replace visors' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace visors' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

amro,
That is funny, they call it the GT3 Junior! And here again that headliner is mentioned,
'-There is a completely different headliner material than you've seen on any other Porsche'.
I sure wish someone ccould get a picture of the headliner. I guess it isn't the most interesting shot to take.
Russ
Oh my!! I take that back, I didn't notice the next link with a ton of interior photos ( over 50), and yes the headliner!!!

Patch,
I hate to judge by a photo but it does look a little hard. Not as plush as I would have expected. I will reserve final judgement till after the showing. Maybe it will look better in Sand Beige? I hope!!
Aloha Russ
That's exactly it. It's a very course, hardmaterial and I was expecting softer and plusher. But overall the car and the interior areso bad *** it's a ridiulous nit-pick. And now that I think about it, it really goes with the hard edge image, like the 'Black T-shirt' ad. It didn't look bad, just not what I expected.
So Russ, I think just about everybody who wants to could go see one before you! Ironic after being voted most excited! Be patient, soon you'll get to crawl all over one and you won't care about pictures anymore
Chris,
You're right, the headliner is the black t-shirt under the white lab coat!
and here is the 996 sun visor:

The headliner didn't look bad at all to me.......no it's not the 997s Alcantara.....but its sharp, tight fitting, and well within the cars nature.......another non-issue when taking the whole package in.
I know there is something that will take the airbag sticker off.......just have to find one that doesn't do any harm to the visor. I was thinking of retroing mine to leather anyway......I wonder if they also have the stickers?......I would imagine so.
The leather visors became available after my order was locked. I believe you can order them from the Exclusive or Tequipment department after the fact. The optioncode is XMP and lists for $560......if I decide to go that direction I'm sure I could get them for around that price. I would imagine they would be very simple to replace......there should only be two or three screws and a simple electrical connection for the lighted mirror......I'd have no problem doing them myself.
One of the thingsI am waiting on is to see what color my visors come in. When I first started configuring my car way back my dealer said they would most likely be black no matter what color interior I got......unless I ordered them inleather.......then they would come in the interior color. However after digging through Porsches web site.....I found that the standard vinyl visors *should* be in the color of the interior.......in my case Sea Blue. If they come in black for some strange reason......I'll be changing them out to leather of the interior color.
There may have been "engineering" reasons for this headliner material related to sound absorption and resonance control. Then again, it may just be another "bean counter" skimp. How many of us would pay the difference for alcantara were it available?
Thanks Atlas,
I will wait to see what mine look like. After hearing what you said about the color being black no matter what your interior, I have to wonder if the headliner will match the interior color or are they all gray/charcoal as in the pics? Sand/Beige interior would look terrible with gray headliner.
Russ
I had the same thought; that the material used in the headliner and in other areas of the cockpit was designed to absorb the sound and heat of the engine in the back seat. After all, the production Cayman seems to have resolved the heat issues mentioned by the few journalists who were able to drive the pre-production models at Bari and in South Africa.
Another thought I had was that the Cayman headliner evokes the headliner of the Boxster and the Carrera Cabriolet.
Russ -
Take a look at this link......then pick 'standard interior colors'.......your headliner will be Sand. Then read Note 1 down at the bottom.......everything points to the visors being the same color as the interior leather.....lets hope it ends up that way. (BTW.....thanks to DaveC for pointing this link out to me some time ago!)

I saw the car last night. I'm no expert on Porsches or even luxury cars but I thought it looked good actually, fit with the car. Oval mirror visors don't fit in as well though. Nit picking really, the car looked excellent!!!!
