This item is manufactured for most Porsche models now. Plugs into the OBDII port, takes and stores copy of ECU, then downloads new performance map. Takes only 30 seconds and is completely reversible. Also says that when the original map is restored there is no extra software and will not be detected by OPC service eqt. For Boxster S says about 20hp gain. Model for Cayman S to be availble soon acording to one dealer @

This may be very interesting in the near future. I have not been able to locate any US dealers for the item as yet.
Chuck,
Good find! That is interesting and I will follow it on that website. I wonder what a 20hp gain would cost us?
Russ
I'm highly skeptical of those claims as ECU tuning that I had done on my Boxster S (986 version) gained between 8-10hp from the chip and that was after a free flow intake, headers and exhaust, total gains were about 30hp, so getting 20 alone from a reprogram sounds mighty high... I also wonder if these things are sport chrono safe/compatible...
The one website I found listing it in UK shows them for Boxster S at £799.00. That shows about $1370. (Pounds to Dollars??) hmmm, now that I see the cost maybe not such a great buy? But it will add MORE

K-Man; are there any warranty issues after using the ECU mapping??? That is one thing that this unit is supposed to prevent. Also, I read on one site that has the mapper that Boxster S sees 10hp/10Lbft increase which is right where you said it would be.
I never hard any warranty issues because I never had a computer problem after the reprogram, they can't disclaim your entire car's warranty, only those items related to the computer IF they can prove the computer was indeed at fault. They never noticed mine had been reprogrammed, but it wasn't supposed to alert anyone at the dealership.
Well warranty is a big consideration, but if I thought I could squeeze out 20 more hp for $1370 it would be tempting! Just think that is only $68.50 an horse!
(Are the bumperette pics slowing the site down?, this took forever)
Russ
Well I am really going to look at this for sure. I hope to hear if they have a US dealer though because I am not real keen on having to buy it from Europe. That could mean major headaches for repair of unit or tech help.
Hey Russ, I think it may be due to the great number of people using the site for increasing their excitement and knowledge of the Cayman, not the pics.... lol
