Suggestion
Once you have the nut off the shaft, inspect threads/nut, if all ok then screw the shaft back in the mount and tighten up with a spanner around the middle section....then try again on the car

Put a spanner on the flats on the stud and unwind the nut off, then wind the stub back into the mount and tighten un, using the flats on the stud, then refit on the car and put the nit back on and tighten up.........or am I missing something?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All
trying to fit some semi semi solid engine mounts today
fitted one side was trying to torque up bottom bolt to 83 nm as specified on the instructions..the bolt just kept on spinning not torqueing up.
i then undid the bolt and the whole shaft unscrewed from the mount and ive been left with a bolt stuck on as in the picture.
i then took out and re spannered up the shaft but the bolt won't undo.
i checked my distance for the mount with jack under to make sure i was square and fitted the other one its seated correctly and tried to fasten up and same issue won't torque up.
any ideas as im worried ive just wasted £300 pound
just dont know what im doing wrong... cold and pissed off and ive got a bolt now on one of mounts which won't come off.
any pointers please
Hi Brewy
I had a similar issue on these RSS mounts when undoing to lower the engine - the whole shaft came out.
with the shaft removed from the mount, I clamped up the shaft in a vice (i.e. the middle section and not on the thread) and used heat and some penetrating oil on the nut.
I presume you mean the nut and not the bolt?
Are you sure you've just not tightened it up? Put a spanner on the flats on the stud and unwind the nut off, then wind the stub back into the mount and tighten un, using the flats on the stud, then refit on the car and put the nit back on and tighten up.........or am I missing something?
its jammed solid ill take to work tomorrow snapped spanner on it already
ive fitted the other one and when im torquing up its just spinning the centre of the mounts and not torquing up
Once you have the nut off the shaft, inspect threads/nut, if all ok then screw the shaft back in the mount and tighten up with a spanner around the middle section....then try again on the car
Have you read this:

Says what you need to do to stop it spinning.
Re: mount spinning
ah gotcha now!
This any help?
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turbo-forum/759333-how-to-install-rss-motor-mounts.html
When you inserted the engine mount - was the square inserted into the engine mounting bracket correctly?
I had this when fitting one of mine. Had to carefully dremel/split off the old nut as it had stuck fast but wasn't fully tightened.
A new nut and making sure the mount was fully seated in the square hole sorted it out

thank for the Replies All ...really appreciated !
moral of story is the mount wasn't seated fully in frame hence spinning,Im going too leave it until tomorrow and sort it out..ill post pictures once done.
Thanks Again
