This is not a probability of success.

I took the missus to test a lovely 987S and, just to show her how much better the Boxster was, also test drove a 996.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Apologies if posted before, it says 2021 at the top but makes reference to 2019 so might be an old article https://www.evo.co.uk/porsche/911/6186/porsche-911-carrera-996-review-history-and-specs

POST 2Original post

It does read as though it was written in 2019 but either way, thanks for posting - it's not a report that I recall reading before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. :thumb: It's incredible to think that such a 911 has been around for 23 years and is still reported on so positively. Anyone that owns one will feel proud and anyone considering buying one will be even more tempted. Just as an aside ...... Is it just me or does that car look Arctic Silver rather than the Polar Silver reported. :?:

POST 3Original post

Indeed a cracking read, I do think it's Artic silver also 👍

POST 4Original post

If you haven't seen it, his earlier video is worth a watch too, and played alarge part in convincing me that I needed a 996! https://youtu.be/w6jCiB9dt0A

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Same here. Was looking for a 996.2 and hadn't really considered a gen 1 until I saw that video. Then the more I looked into it the more a 996.1 made sense and seemed like the safer option.

POST 6Original post

I'm waiting to see the latest iteration of his 996 - wait nearly over!

POST 7Original post

It's from the 2019 ECOTY issue (269). Yeah, will be interesting to see what he's done.

POST 8Original post

I didn't intend to buy a 996 originally. I didnt mind the odd looking lights but I always preferred the MR format of the 987 Boxsters. Or so I thought. I took the missus to test a lovely 987S and, just to show her how much better the Boxster was, also test drove a 996. At the end of that day I bought the 996 without a regret. So much more character! I still think a Boxster is an excellent car, but by comparison they're just a little too dull.

POST 9Original post

I think that car was owned by someone at Evo at the time. And I think one of the other staffers at Evo has recently bought a black 996.2. They seem to like them over there.

POST 10Original post

It's quite left field - should surprise a lot of people :bandit:

POST 11Original post

Have you got a source on that? It looked like he was going X51 for a while but I don't think that's the case any more...

POST 13Original post

Given his new job. He's gone LS swap hasn't he? I'm rubbish at smileys, I mean, I hope I'm wrong.

POST 14Original post

Yep, classic vid that one. A 996 C2 is all you need. 8) He loves the 996 GT3 too. Nice bit from 4 minutes in on this vid. I'll be interested to see what he does to his 996, although if he's in the states I can't see it appearing anywhere soon. :?:
