Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

As above I think its solid car that you could run for a while and not loose anything.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Evening everyone,
I bought a 2000 996 C4 in autumn of last year - actually took it in exchange for a boxster I was selling.
Anyway - lovely car with fairly high mileage of 124k miles but drives really nicely.
My question is that I don't see many (if any) Guards Red 996 Cara for sale
Anywhere.
I have always associated Porsche with guards red so I'm surprised at not being able to find many - so was this a rare colour option for the 996?
I doNt use the car much so have come
Close to selling it a couple of times but also have considered putting it into storage over the winters, enjoy it in summer and keeping it long term
As an investment!
Any thoughts from you guys?
Thanks
Jamie (Aberdeen)
:welcome: to 911uk from another GR fan. :thumb:
Red has always been a classic 911 colour and was especially popular in the late 70s and through the 80s but it really fell out of favour in the 90s meaning that it's quite rare to see a bright red 993 or 996.
They didn't really recover from what many called 'the yuppie association' until about 2006 which coincided with the launch of the 997.1 Turbo and carried on with the second generation 997 Carrera.
In more recent years red seemed to become more of a GT colour as there's quite a few Guards, and the slightly darker Carmine, red 991 GT3s around.
There was a guards red C2 for sale in Cardiff in November last year. It caught my eye as an early car in a distinctive colour. It was with a general used car trader for £16,995. I forget the miles but it was 100k +/- 25. Anyway Wales was in lockdown and I thought it would hang around but it sold very quickly.
Guards is certainly rare and dare I say it seems to attract a small premium.
I was kind of hoping the new owner would pop up on here saying the engine had blown up so I could give up feeling I missed a great opportunity!
Cheers for reply and thoughts - did have a chuckle at your comment Re engine blowing up! 😂
I do like this car and don't particularly need to sell so will keep for now I think.
Thanks again.
GR 996 carreras are pretty rare and definitely sell for a premium assuming all else is well spec'd. Same story for speed yellow. It seems that during the 996 and 997 era all the doctors and dentists that spec'd these things new listened to the dealers who told them it had to be silver, grey, black or dark blue for resale purposes.
I'm not really sure that holding on to it as an investment is a great plan though. I don't foresee them suddenly rising by 50%. At most it will probably hold its value but it'll cost you to keep it healthy.
Yeah thats Johnny's old car. Seemed a decent car, it was Matt at Trimsports car before him.
As above I think its solid car that you could run for a while and not loose anything.
