Suggestion · Original poster

In the act of planning a bit of a suspension overhaul in the coming months I was thinking of replacing my springs for something a little softer to get the car how I want it, long road trips.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In the act of planning a bit of a suspension overhaul in the coming months I was thinking of replacing my springs for something a little softer to get the car how I want it, long road trips. I love my C4S but have found coming from a base 986 the suspension is a bit on the rough side and when driving for a few hours it makes the car a bit tedious to drive feeling every bump jolt the car. I understand the US market had what was called touring suspension as standard on their cars which was a fair bit softer and raised the car a little. I'm guessing this would be comparable to my old Boxster suspension as I understand a Boxster S had standard Carrera hardness springs and so the base Boxster must have had softer springs than that and the M032 touring suspension for the Carrera was softer than the standard ROW Carrera springs. So in short does anyone know part numbers for the touring springs or similar decent yet softer springs? searching around I can't see them obvious on the PET and as most look to upgrade performance than comfort can't find any post about people going this way round, usually just people looking to get M030 or PSS10's.

POST 2Original post

I changed from a Boxster to my C4S and found the ride very harsh. Changed all the suspension links - even though there was no noise or play - and it transformed the ride. Supple and enjoyable. Rubber age hardens - turns more solid so less absorbsion.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the advice, I'm planning on getting a full set of refurb control arms and tuning forks from Hartech so I'll try doing all that first prior to messing with springs.

POST 4Original post

I'll used Hartech arms. Excellent value and OEM spec. Plenty on here on the woes of seized bolts but still DIY.
