I am leaking on both sides of the top behind the seats. I cleaned the drains, and the problem persists. It is a pronounced leak with the passenger side being the worst. I've tried to test with a water bottle to determine where it is, but I can't see with the top on the car. I'm thinking that it will have to be removed to see exactly what is going on. Is there a chance that the top mechanism wore the water catch trays and created the leak? Has anyone had this issue? I'm perplexed. This seems to have come on just recently.
Thanks!
Try getting inside the car and having someone spray the car with a hose emulating rain from the top of the car, you should be able to locate it much easier.
I have. I can see that it seems to be entering from somewhere in the very front of the water catch tray where the small gap between the top lid and the plastic window trim is. I'm going to exhaust all options before removing the top. Thanks!
I don't think top removal is going to necessarily yield a solution. Always remember water will follow pathways from its source so where you see it may have no nexus with where it's leaking. A situation like yours might require more aggressive spray techniques, have some towels with you.
I pretty sure that I've figured it out. I took the car into the dealer to have some work done recently and they removed the top lid. from what I can deduce, when they put it back in, they didn't seat the water catch tray properly (both sides) and water is getting behind it. I called them and it is going back in
next
week.
Update. Ok, the issue was that the tray had somehow come out from behind the body work at the very front most part of the tray - closest to the doors on both sides. A bit of effort and I was able to work it back in. I tested it and it's good as new.
I'm upset with myself for not catching this, but in my defense the lighting was not ideal. When I brought the car home from
Porsche
(funny story coming) I was able to see the issue.

shop story: They called me and said that they had diagnosed the issue and I needed to replace all of the window seals and tracks. Parts and labor would be $6,631. What a joke. Needless to say, no go on that and it wouldn't have worked anyway. They totally missed it.
Glad to hear it's fixed - and you aren't $6,600 poorer. Usually

North America does a happiness survey on service visits - you might consider giving them an honest reply - that you weren't happy, and they never really tried to make you happy. They hate when that happens since it can change their allocations for new cars..
