I installed the headlights back in and went to check that everything was working....and nothing.

I let them dry for 30 minutes and used the "cool" function on a hair dryer to make sure it had all evaporated.

I picked up two bulbs (Sylvania H7 Ultra) to replace the old Osram H7 64120s.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hello Everyone,
I noticed that my passenger side low beam was out and decided to replace the bulb. The driver's side was working fine at this point.
I picked up two bulbs (Sylvania H7 Ultra) to replace the old Osram H7 64120s. I installed the headlights back in and went to check that everything was working....and nothing. I checked the fuses, made sure the connections "snapped" in place etc to no avail.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
All other lights work fine (turn signal, fogs, high beam, and the small lights in-between the high and low beam.
Would love advice on how to go about this.
Thank you in advance!
Unlikely that 2 new bulbs were bad but I'd try to putting the old working bulb back in and see if it works. If it does, at least that would tell you that the connections are OK.
I think I have fixed it. I went and bought some CRC Electrical Cleaner from Autozone for about $12. I subsequently sprayed the connector for the bulbs (the sockets in which you shove the two prongs into), the male connectors on the entire light assembly itself and the female ports on the car. I let them dry for 30 minutes and used the "cool" function on a hair dryer to make sure it had all evaporated. Took the car for a spin this morning and both lights now work. At this time the both light assemblies had been in and out of the car 3-4 times, so maybe it was just a result of them finally seating right (unlikely IMO given that all other lights worked, and the driver's side worked fine prior).
I already ordered a new light switch so I will be returning that.
Hope this helps someone else down the line.
A small amount of corrosion on the bulb socket will cause the light to short out and fail. Try to find the corrosion and eliminate or purchase a new socket and replace the socket and bulb together. It doesn't take much corrosion to cause this failure mode, and in my case I had to buy the new socket to solve the problem. I hope this helps! /X3
