Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm mechanically capable enough and have the space and tools to be able to do it myself but I spent a large portion of last year replacing turbos and all sorts.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Current situation is my car (996 turbo) needs a clutch. I'm mechanically capable enough and have the space and tools to be able to do it myself but I spent a large portion of last year replacing turbos and all sorts. I don't get good chunks of time to work on cars right now as I have a young family, busy work, other life stuff so I'm looking at paying someone to do said work. Off the back of that I've started to compile a list of other stuff to do while I'm in about. One other major thing I'd like done is to have all the coolant fittings welded so that peace of mind is there not only for me but for when I sell it will be desireable. What I'd like to know is : The coolant fittings seem to be rife on the American forums but not as big a deal here? Is it still something that needs to be considered? Any recommendations for garages to carry out all the work? I'm based in Scotland but have no qualms about sticking the car on a transporter and sending it to wherever will do the work well without financially violating me Open to all any any suggestions especially by peop;e who have had said work carried out.

POST 2Original post

I would get them welded if the engine was coming out myself. MC

POST 3Original post

D&G Porsche in Newcastle have customer cars sent from as far as London for maintenance work. Worth having a chat with them in deciding what to have done. Good luck for a happy outcome whoever you use. CheeRS, Jkeith.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers for the opinions chaps. Open to hearing anyone else's? Especially recommendations for places, ideally as close to Scotland as possible

POST 5Original post

Not near Scotland, MCE Porsche near Banbury. Mike is a one man band, read his web site, he services mine. He can do it all, but more importantly he does it right, and won't have it away with your wallet.
